Yeah it looks so good. I'm a huge fan of Thor anyway, I even really liked the first two films which aren't exactly great movies, so I think this one's going to be one of my favourites. I'm a lot less excited for the Spider-Man film than I thought I'd be but it's still Spider-Man, I'm probably going to love it.
Yeah, like, I'm stoked for Spider-Man, it just doesn't look anywhere near as weird and unique as Ragnarok does. Plus, only one of the two has Goldblum.
Civil War Age of Ultron Avengers Winter Solider Ant Man Iron Man Guardians Vol 1 Dr Strange Thor Captain America Iron Man 2 Incredible Hulk The Dark World Iron Man 3
I don't even know how to structure my favorite films from top to bottom, but I do know that Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 2 are at the very bottom.
I mean I love the first one and like the second a lot more than most people do but they're still not that great, haha. Plus I love every one of the film's above Thor. I just really like most Marvel movies, ha.
Now I wanna attempt to rank 'em, even though I don't know what to do with GOTG Vol. 2 yet... lol. I'm just gonna tentatively put it at the top, with the disclaimer that a second viewing could drop it a few levels. The two Gunn films and two Russos films are definitely the Top 4, with one of the Guardians films at #1; beyond that, idk. GOTG 2 GOTG Civil War Winter Soldier Iron Man Age of Ultron Avengers IM3 Doctor Strange Captain America Ant-Man Thor 2 Thor Hulk IM2 Age of Ultron is a funny beast for me because it has some really clear flaws (particularly the mishandling of Black Widow and the weird Thor subplot setting up Infinity War), and yet my overall opinion of the movie has weirdly improved over the past couple years. I think it's a deceptively personal movie, with Whedon's exhaustion from the pressure of Avengers flavoring much of the story. It's just one of those movies where I can totally see the failings while watching it and don't blame anyone for being super critical of it, but what I appreciate about it outweighs the issues for me.
AOU is like TASM2 for me. It clearly has problems but there's parts of it that just work so well for me that I can't help but adore it overall. The scene where they're all just hanging out taking turns trying to pick up Thor's hammer is just so much fun.
I prefer ASM2 to Age of Ultron pretty easily, but that's nonetheless a great comparison. The scenes with Hawkeye and his wife were so good. For as messy as the plot got at times, between the farm house stuff and that party early on, Whedon was able to fit in quite a bit of downtime, which ended up being much of my favorite stuff in the film (besides that super gross prima nocta joke).
im just now catching up on Agents of SHIELD ive been behind since the first season. holy shit, did this show get better. they did what i always wanted them to do: give some smaller characters some screen time. I cant believe Ghost Rider is back, and hes better than ever might i add, but also references to the Punisher and Quake and the fucking Inhumans as well. nice to see the Kree getting a lot of attention. Just really really fucking cool So how many superpowered "heroes" are we up to now? Gotta be high up there, I mean fuck the only glaring omissions so far are the Fantastic Four and the Xmen
Universal had the rights, but now they're mostly with Marvel... though the exact specifics are still vague, with Universal still possibly having some contract stuff. (Perhaps it's like the Hulk situation?) Anyways, I wouldn't really be interested in a Namor film. I think the best place for him would be an Avengers, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, or maybe even Captain America/Invaders film. He's more interesting to me personally as a complicated piece of an ensemble, or perhaps an antagonist, than as the main character.
I think my ranking would go something like: Guardians Guardians Vol. 2 Ant-Man The Winter Soldier Civil War The Avengers Iron Man Doctor Strange Captain America The Dark World Age of Ultron Thor Iron Man 3 Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 I feel like Guardians 1 & 2 could swap placements after a few more viewings of Vol. 2 but yeah.
That's the order of my top 5 (although CW ad WS could probably swap depending my mood). After the top 5 I'd have no idea what order to put the rest in and I still haven't bothered to watch Iron man 3 or The Dark World yet.
1. GotG Vol. 2 2. GotG 3. Winter Soldier 4. Civil War 5. Iron Man Good: Avengers, Doctor Strange, AoU, Cap1 Ok: Ant-Man, IM2, Hulk Not good: Thor, Thor 2, IM3 I may need to re-watch IM2 and IM3 to see where they stand for me now.
I don't think Iron Man 3 and especially the Dark World are as bad as everyone makes them out to be. IM3 isn't all that great but it's fine for a one time watch and The Dark World in my opinion is really cool.
I do intend on watching Thor 2 before the new one comes out. Ironman 3 I'm in no rush to watch, although I prob will at some point just to see them all.
