I don't believe for a second that's true, if only because it makes absolutely no sense for Mephisto to be introduced in a show that (presumably) isn't about magic or the supernatural.
The Hood is supposed to be in Ironheart and his cloak gets its powers from dark magic (it’s usually Dormammu IIRC but they could be changing it to Mephisto). If he is in it, he probably wouldn’t have a big role, but there’s an easy slot to slide him in
Don’t care about Mephisto unless they adapt his only good story: his date with Magma of the New Mutants. (Ok, he’s also fun as Thanos’ wingman in Infinity Gauntlet, but they already did a much less fun version of that story.)
Technically, he got his gear from a random demon that was eventually retconned to be an avatar of Dormammu. Then he lost that gear and got the Norn Stones from Loki. I mean, I guess since the Hood is involved and demons factor into his origin, that it would make sense to involve Mephisto since he's basically the Satan of the Marvel Universe, but I dunno, I guess I'm just salty because I would've rather Mephisto been introduced somewhere more relevant, like a Doctor Strange film or hell, a Ghost Rider adaptation. Having him appear in a show about a kid genius feels a little out of place.
I dunno. Magic/spiritual power vs machines can make sense. but I also have no baggage from reading comics.
I mean, I don't have any baggage either. I'm just thinking logically here. It makes more sense for a mystical character, especially a big character, to be introduced in a relevant setting before branching his character out. I dunno, I'm not seriously complaining.
It’s all the MCU. I don’t see the big deal. It’s just a character. It doesn’t matter how big he was in the comics or not.
I also guarantee that Mephisto isn't gonna be the big bad of Ironheart. He'll probably show up for a minute long scene that explains where The Hood's powers come from and then probably a post-credit scene teasing whatever thing he'll show up in next

If The Rock were in the MCU, who could you see him playing? I can’t think of anyone. Maybe because he’s just The Rock in everything he’s in
