I don't think this is true. Besides trailers for Secret Invasion and Werewolf By Night, we learned there's officially gonna be a new Falcon, Nelson's returning as the Leader, and we learned who is going to be on the Thunderbolts roster. That's not nothing, unless you don't care about any of that, in which case I don't know what to tell you.
I don’t care about a minor character from Falcon/Winter Soldier. Not against him being the new Falcon. Just don’t see what’s so exciting about it. you already know that I didn’t even remember who Leader was, since you know, he wasn’t named that in the one movie as a minor character he was in like 14 years ago. Again, not against it, but also again, not that exciting. I feel like I already knew the vast majority of the Thunderbolts team? Cool to see Ghost return. This one is probably the most exciting confirmation, but it’s like at least 2 years away and we have so little go off of that it’s hard to get that excited. so again, especially in the context of what Lucasfilm did today, this was lame and underwhelming. I wasn’t demanding the FF cast or anything. But when they make all the biggest trailers exclusive, all the movies, it’s a big yawn from me.
And again, I’m going to watch it all anyway. So I clearly don’t need to see the trailers to want to see them.
I also feel like we got more information than we expected from Comic Con in July, and that essentially lessened the amount of stuff they were able to share today.
Secret Invasion, Andor, Willow, and Werewolf by Night trailers were the highlights for me. They know everyone has been waiting for the FF cast and said we’d have to wait? Why the wait? Do they not have it confirmed yet?
There are truly no Marvel Studios feature-length films that excite me at the moment outside of Guardians 3 and Wakanda Forever. However, the Werewolf By Night special looks absolutely delightful. Very much so looking forward to that one.
All the Star Wars stuff was the “highlight” for me. Marvel was boring. I’m going to watch it all either way. So I guess they can whatever they want to. As far as FF, if he said casting would be next year, I can only assume they aren’t shooting until next fall. Which leaves plenty of time to get the cast set.
Oh yea, thought I saw a tweet saying he said maybe at the next one, but maybe it was next year in general? I haven’t actually heard him saying it.
So i guess the 20th Century presentation was just exclusive footage too. Lame. Don't they have an Alien series and a movie coming up? A Night At The Museum series? that X-Files animated series? Give us an update on what your plans are with Planet of The Apes, Kingsman, Die Hard, and Buffy. You have other 20th IP besides just Avatar.
I mean, clearly if you didn't know who the character was, you didn't know what to look for, but way back when the movie came out, his character was Samuel Sterns, who I knew as the Leader from the comics. I knew who the Leader was because I watched the Incredible Hulk cartoon as a kid and I played the Hulk game where he's the main boss, and of course I knew him from the comics. And in the movie we see the stuff he was putting into Abomination seep into a head wound he received and we see him start to mutate a little, so it was a dangling thread they're finally getting back to after like a billion years. Don't take this away from me.
Supposedly it's going to be an adult animated series pretty much just like Star Trek: Lower Decks but X-Files.
I remember the reference to him becoming Leader from the final shot of his in the film. Like, I read about what that meant online. But since it’s been 14 years I haven’t given it much of any thought. Also haven’t read the comics. So I can only speak for myself, but my reaction is merely, “oh, okay.”
Tim Blake Nelson returning was my favorite announcement. Trailers were all cool. Was really hoping we’d get the F4 cast. Solid meh from me.
Weird that they’re really leaning so hard into The Incredible Hulk finally being fully acknowledged lately. I suppose that means Betty’s still out there somewhere as well.
I'm wondering they'll re-re-cast Sam Elliot as Thunderbolt Ross now. I actually had a working theory that instead of bringing back Thunderbolt Ross somehow for the eventual World War Hulk, that they should make Martin Freeman's Everett K Ross the Red Hulk instead.
The Leader coming into play is cool, but there’s no way I see that Cap movie, lol. Maybe these Hulk threads will someday end up in something I actually care about? More Betty so we could get Red Harpy would be dope… but, Liv Tyler’s Betty was pretty awful! Especially compared to Jennifer Connolly.
Werewolf By Night looks like it’s what I was hoping. Cheesy, fun horror. Looks to be quite unique for Marvel and easily the most interesting of what was announced/revealed. Got real big ‘Winter Soldier’ vibes from Secret Invasion, too. Also, happy that Ghost and Red Guardian are returning. Tim Blake Nelson returning is fun.
