I’d assume he’ll direct Shang-Chi 2 (which came out in trademarks last weekend) and that might end up being a bridge between Dynasty and Secret Wars. He’s a great director. Really love that choice
I don't see how he will direct Shang-Chi 2 and Kang Dynasty within 3 years. Just doesn't seem like there is enough room for him to do both. Looks like Shang-chi 2 will probably be released after phase 6. Edit: nvm. The russos did civil war in 2016 and then infinity war in 2018 so it could work
Now this is exciting. What it means for Shang-Chi 2, I have no idea. If it means Shang-Chi (and possibly the Ten Rings) are major players in Kang Dynasty then awesome. With Kang being good at hand-to-hand combat I’m expecting some crazy good fight scenes.
It’s crazy that Shang-Chi had the same Covid production issues as other Phase 4 films, but it didn’t show at all in the final product. That’s a testament to how well Destin managed things. Kevin Feige obviously took notice and is trusting him a lot.
Saying that, I’m sure there will be a few on here that would hate that and want him away from Marvel.
he did a great job with shang chi, which was probably the second best of this fairly miserable phase of movies
This is actually plausible. He and Cretton are friends and collaborators (he also vouched for Cretton to get the Shang-Chi gig). With Secret Wars releasing half a year after Kang Dynasty, Cretton can’t helm both but he could do a good collab with Coogler helming Secret Wars. Pretty ideal for Marvel.
Glad you liked that list! And that Secret Wars was SO good. The build up to it, through the Avengers and New Avengers books, was so perfectly executed, it's one of my favorite series and events of all time. Hickman is a master at that (and Miles with that hamburger is fuuuucking hilarious). If you want to read some of the lead up to that, Hickman did this big Fantastic Four run right before it, and it's one of my favorite runs ever, with epic payoff. I think it runs FF #570 - 611, and the Future Foundation (FF) books #1-23. Hickman is great at writing huge epics but also insanely good at some of the small, impactful family moments.
I kind of get the point, but who cares? But let’s see what actually happens after these events. Eternals-Winter 2023 Falcon and Soldier Boy-early 2024 Shang-Chi-early 2024 after Falcon but before… Far From Home- summer 2024 No way home- late fall 2024 Multiverse of Madness-a few weeks later Nov 2024 Hawkeye- Christmas 2024 Moon Knight- ??? Not enough context to determine. Likely after Hawkeye, but who knows. Ms. Marvel- roughly early 2025 but unknown beyond that Love/Thunder- based on the length of the Jane/Thor break up, it’s 2025, likely the furthest out from Endgame. so it’s kind of a lot worse. But I still do not care. None of the character had any interaction or engagement with anything from ETERNALS. None of them were set where it happened. I just don’t care.
Watch Marvel Movies in Order and the Marvel Cinematic Universe Timeline on Disney+ According to the official timeline, Eternals actually takes place after Falcon and Shang-Chi. The official timeline doesn't mention when the Spider-Men movies take place, but it confirms Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Miss Marvel all take place after Eternals. Thor presumably as well. I dunno, with how much shit happens in this universe on a regular basis, is it that shocking that they're not commenting heavily on the Celestial? I mean, we live in a real world where wild stories fly under the radar all the fuckin' time. I don't think it's unrealistic, honestly.
Eh, I wasn't arguing your point, just trying to provide more accurate context while adding my own thoughts.
You know, as I hit post I knew it might be taken the wrong way. My “who cares” to the idea that it’s an issue that it hasn’t been mentioned in anything else yet. What you said was valid.
If there was a god head sticking out of the planet, I’d talk about it non stop forever. I’m still talking about how Chernobyl is on fire.
it was a joke tweet but also not cause like wtf there’s a dead giant dude sticking out of the earth. it wasn’t meant to offend my man.
Not offended. I’ve seen the comment a few times already on twitter and felt the most comfortable responding to it here. Not really directed at you, btw. More whoever first tweeted it.
But would you if half of all life was just erased and brought back? When do people in the MCU become jaded over this stuff
