Is anyone else worried that Jon Watts is going to get either or both of the Avengers movies, since Marvel is likely to keep it in the family like they did with the Russo Bros? Who would you guys want if they did keep it in the family? My vote is for Coogler
I'd also be okay with this, but I feel like he already has so much on his plate that he wouldn't be able to do it
Peyton Reed is almost certainly doing one of ‘em, right? Seems like a pretty obvious fit for the company. Wouldn’t be shocked if Reed did the first one, Watts did the second, and Michael Waldron wrote or co-wrote both. Not really “worried” about that ‘cause I wouldn’t wish an Avengers event film on a director I actually love. Coogler’s production company apparently signed a 5-yr contract with Disney last year, which includes at least a couple Marvel Disney+ shows. No clue when he’s gonna get around to directing another film that’s not Marvel.
I want the Duffer brothers to get one of the Avengers films or at least The Mutants. They can handle a bag of characters well. If Coogler continues with Marvel I’d be more interested with him expanding the Wakanda mythos compared to doing an Avengers film. If Reed handles Quantumania and Kang well then I’ll be open to him doing Kang Dynasty.
I do like the idea of the Duffer brothers doing The Mutants. Reed has impressed me more with his Mando episodes than Ant-Man, even though I love both those movies, so I could get on board with him being the one if he nails Quantumania
Was there and it was pretty wild and emotional (Guardians and Wakanda Forever). MODOK looked almost completely metal with a gold face. Kang was dope, as expected. I'm going to assume Kang has been preventing mutants from existing in the MCU for some reason or another. Then when he's gone after Secret Wars, we'll get an abundance of them.
well I just wrote a novel for a response and accidentally touched my apple mouse in a "back" motion and threw me to the previous page and kept no draft of my response so let's see what I can remember from it... There's so many ways this could go when you look into the future, especially for the cosmic stuff, so here's some random thoughts about it... - If/when we get a Nova (Corps) movie, they will open the door to more connections with the larger cosmic universe. Couple that with the FF movie and a possible exploration of the negative zone, you could easily set Annihilus up as a next mega villain. There's tons of material to mine from the Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest, even the Cancerverse stories that you can use. - Additionally, the FF could introduce the Silver Surfer and eventually Galactus, who as the first and oldest being in the universe would be pretty big. He also maintains the balance between Eternity (hello thor 4) and Death. - Other cosmic items that have had groundwork set: we already have skrulls and they will play a major role in Secret Invasion, and we have the Kree, who showed up in Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and the first Guardians (/waves at Ronan, does a little dance). The Kree/Skrull war could easily be worked in, even with a potential solution arising from the Young Avengers cast if they introduce Hulkling who is the heir to both Kree and Skrull thrones (also, he's married to one of the Scarlet Witch's sons... yah). - At some point, the mutants will show up in all their glory, and we will eventually get an X-Men movie, and you could see them introducing the Shi'Ar down the line, along with the Imperial Guard, the M'Kraan Crystal (and Phoenix eating planets), the Starjammers. Even locally there's so much to pull from that's going on in the Krakoa era, including the mutants terraforming Mars and declaring that planet the most important one in the Sol system. You could also hit up the Children of the Vault... There's so, so much they can pull from, and as long as they seem to know the direction they are going in I will follow them through it all.
This is rad and I appreciate it. I just finished up the doom secret wars so I’m just bouncing around the galaxy lol
