the fact that they announced this blew my mind. I knew Secret Wars was coming but didn't think we'd actually get the announcement of it in not one but TWO avengers movies.
just threw on Doctor Strange 2 again with all this news coming out, and that movie is just so... fun. it's probably not much better put together than Love and Thunder, but I enjoy MoM so much more because of Raimi's touch as a director, Elizabeth Olsen's performance, and actually having a somewhat coherent arc for its titular character. Strange bowing to Wong is such a nice moment that I didn't really appreciate the first time around
I was wondering why Phase 4 didn't really seem to have a cohesive narrative arc like the other Phases, but I guess it was just a transitional phase to introduce some of the concepts and characters that will be important in Phases 5-6.
A cynical take is they decided to end "phase 4" earlier than originally planned because there has been a pretty consistent backlash against it, and this gives them an opportunity to reset the brand going forward.
My reckless guess is a lot of those holes in phase 6 to be filled in are gonna be X-Men related. I still can’t believe they announced all that when it was supposed to be relatively low key. Even on what was supposed to be a slow night, they blew DC out of the water.
Phase 4 seems to just be about introducing new characters in solo films or as support (younger characters). Phase 5 will deal with everything ramping up with Kang’s confrontation with the Ant-Man family in the first film. Phase 6 will be about mutants and the culmination. That’s the way I see it.
So, it's weird that Marvel hasn't said anything about the Halloween special yet, right? Kind of wondering if it's even meant for this year.
I'm not familiar with the comics really, but are there any "huge events" (ie. Infinity War and Secret Wars) left to tackle in the MCU after this?
Maybe stuff involving the X-Men, like Avengers vs. X-Men or Onslaught. Actually, fuck, that's what they'll do, isn't it. They'll do Onslaught. That would actually be kind of awesome, if they did.
