I am excited for this and I am pretty positive that's what the new Black Widow and John Walker were recruited for. Curious who else will end up being on the team, especially if they choose to keep it a villain-maintained unit. Zemo seems too obvious, but maybe Abomination? Shocker could also be a choice if they want to get someone from the comics. 100% need to introduce Songbird for this. No exceptions.
Not sure why Bucky would be on the team unless he shows up to talk the Wakandans into letting Zemo join. Shocker would be cool. I’d be glad to see what Ghost has been up to.
I want it known that I'm pretty sure the second tweet in that post was not there when I made my reply. If Zemo is involved, that's kind of surprising because, for one, it conflicts with his character arc, and also I wouldn't think Walker would want to work with him. Unless they play that for drama, which they could. Ghost would definitely be obvious as a nod from the comics and as just a great vehicle to use the character again. Taskmaster would be great just cause maybe now we can actually give the character a personality, not to mention agency over her own actions.
My guess is that he just gave a good pitch. I haven't watched either of his two previous films so I know nothing about him.
As I understand it Zemo is a key member of Thunderbolts in the comics. Unfortunately, so was General Ross, which obviously won't be happening now.
They could definitely just have him be Red Hulk as a CGI character and get someone else to voice him, but it seems like they're hesitant to recast characters
He was the leader of the original iteration, for sure, but they've also changed Zemo in the movies dramatically to be more of an anti-hero than an outright supervillain. And the movie Zemo hates superheroes, so if they are going to use him, I expect the movie to incorporate that and make that part of his character arc.
You say this as if Marvel would let something as silly as a “character” “arc” get in the way of what they feel like doing next. They could do that and say he became Red Hulk between films, but that’d be pretty weird to me if they don’t have a human Ross. It’d especially be weird if they then modeled that Hulk’s face too much after Hurt’s. Maybe Sam Elliott could be convinced to come back for a handful of scenes in one film (if he’s not too busy complaining about The Power of the Dog). Have him die tragically at the end. And, use that to bring back Betty Ross (maybe even played by the better Betty, Jennifer Connelly). Then Marvel completionists can revisit the Ang Lee Hulk and it can get more fans amongst the nerds.
I haven't seen anything from any character in their movies that doesn't at least follow on whatever they were doing before. I feel like they've been relatively good about that.
Eh they don't seem to have any issue doing pretty significant developments with Hulk off screen. Red Hulk shouldn't be any different
Sure, but that’s not my main issue. It’s more so how far they push indirectly keeping William Hurt alive within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could get pretty gross pretty quickly. I’d sooner see them bring in the other Thunderbolt Ross actor, or have him die between films and have the team dedicated to him, than have a Hulk model painted red and sculpted into the essence of Hurt’s face.
