The Hand stuff in season 2 was definitely the worst part of Daredevil but I still liked it more than probably half of the other Marvel Netflix stuff
The Hand/Elektra stuff completely torpedoed season 2. Those last three or four episodes of Daredevil season 2 were some of the most disappointing television I've ever watched. They could find a way to work the Punisher stuff in too but if I had to choose between keeping the old Punisher or a clean break from that mess, I'd take the clean break. They can always reintroduce Punisher in the MCU.
He obviously has people on Earth who can report back to him what's going on there. I was being sarcastic. It was the biggest news in the history of planet Earth of course he'd know about it and be able to get back there for the funeral.
Nah, it's all or nothing. The first episode of Daredevil needs Danny waving to Matt through a window while Elektra comes out of the ceiling.
Danny Rand should obviously be recast with an East Asian-American actor. They can of course bring back Jessica Henwick though.
Marvel Comics announced a new Iron Fist that is Asian, so perhaps Marvel Studios will go that route. Similar to Scott being Ant-Man in the MCU instead of Hank. Would be pretty wild to see Okoye get the powers and take the mantle for a very small amount of time like in the comics (future What If.. episode, perhaps).
Yeah, keep Henwick as Iron Fist but still show Danny and Ward's adventures in wherever, and that way everyone is happy.
Henwick taking the mantle would be cool but I’m also not against Marvel going the Daughter of the Dragon/Heroes for Hire route and letting her continue to be her own thing. Just let my man Shang-Chi continue to shine in his films whenever Iron Fist is introduced. I see a lot of people online wanting the sequel to be ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Iron Fist’ and I think that’s a terrible idea. Introducing the mantle of ‘Iron Fist’ by having some of the previous holders sharing some history or colliding with the Ten Rings centuries ago could be fun, though.
I can only speak from a white person's perspective, but I agree that this would be a bad idea. Assuming they kept Iron Fist as Danny, I think it would actually be really awesome if Shang-Chi and Iron Fist had an adventure together, as I feel like it would provide a lot of fertile ground for storytelling and character development, and it would just be hilarious to put the two together. I feel though that Shang-Chi's franchise should remain Shang-Chi's franchise, and not bring outside forces into it. It's not something limited to Iron Fist; I'd feel the same if they brought anyone into the sequel that wasn't part of that world, because I think it's super important that Shang-Chi continue doing what it's doing, and it doesn't need a white martial artist co-lead joining in. That's a bad look. I would feel more comfortable about the idea if Shang-Chi showed up in an Iron Fist project. In fact, with Danny and Ward doing what they're doing, it would be relatively easy to cross them over into that world. But that's my take. Clearly if they chose to replace Danny with someone else (Colleen or otherwise), the situation becomes far less problematic... but I want them to keep Danny. :(
Which is why I’d be down with Marvel connecting the Ten Rings and the previous holders of the ‘Iron Fist’ mantle without having Rand or anyone else forced into the Shang-Chi sequel. If they want a show or greater team-up of many fighters in the future then it’s an easy pathway. Who knows when we will see Rand or any other Iron Fist, though. Out of the Netflix characters returning, any mention of Iron Fist has been suspiciously few. He could be on the back burner due to Marvel focusing on Shang-Chi.
I just really hope they don't Disney Plussify Daredevil too much lol. would be a real shame if they traded in the dark grounded tone for more forced humour, bad CGI and weird pacing because everything can only be six episodes the way they did Fisk in Hawkeye... doesn't fill me with a lot of hope
Bad CGI, yes. Weird humor placed throughout, probably. We'll probably still get bits and pieces of the dark grounded tone. However much Moon Knight allowed.
just finished season 2 of Daredevil, kinda bums me out that they're making a separate Daredevil series rather than just making season 4, what's the point of even bringing the existing series over at that point
I also wish they'd just bring Erik Oleson back, considering his season of DD is one of Marvel's crowning achievements and he had most of a s4 planned out before it was cancelled. the writing credits of the guys mentioned in that Variety article sound generic as hell
I don’t think there’s any thing as “reaching the exhausting end of cynicism” for one of the largest corporations in the world but like, that’s just my personal opinion so I get it
WandaVision had 9 also. But aren't the She-Hulk episodes only supposed to be around 30 minutes each? Or is that not the case.
I don't remember if it's been said, but I fully expect this to be the case. I would love to be wrong though, cause 9 45-60 min episodes would be just swell.
Knowing full well I'm speaking from a male perspective, I feel like without knowing exactly what the original concept for She-Hulk looked like, trying to turn this into social commentary feels a little like a reach.
