JJ1, DD1, DD3, Punisher 1, First half of LC1 and pretty much all of LC2 are all varying degrees of good-to-great. But JJ1 is the best overall.
My favorite and the one I feel is most consistent is Daredevil. From there I feel Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Punisher all stand on relatively even ground. Defenders and Iron Fist, I understand people's criticism and I agree with some of it, but I still found things to enjoy and so do not think of them negatively. I've heard a lot of people call JJ1 the best or their favorite and while I do think it's very good, there are a couple of minor characters that mar the experience for me by their inclusion, leading me to favor DD1 and DD3.
JJ1 has some preeetty big problems imo. I recently rewatched it and struggled with a lot of stuff about it. it's a shame because the character herself is phenomenal and I love Ritter's portrayal so much
The themes it tackles and Ritter and Tenant's performances more than make up for any shortcomings it has IMO
While I totally understand people seeing the back half of Cage Season 1 as a downgrade considering how great Mahershala Ali was as Cottonmouth, I thought Diamondback was a fun, chewing-the-scenery style villain and I thought Mariah and Shades were still an interesting combo together.
I... like the second half of Luke Cage 1 lmao. Shades is an all-timer Marvel character, and once they stop writing Diamondback like a knockoff Joker and actually give him some depth, he's pretty great too. the monologue he gives to that politician in the Harlem's Paradise bottle episode is fantastic. but yeah, Mahershala Ali is a hard act to follow ofc
I can't think of a single issue with JJ1 but it's been a long time. It was my favorite season of the Netflix shows at the time anyways
There was definitely a filler episode or two and the whole Trish/Nuke storyline wasn't particularly interesting IMO
I've been vague in my previous posts, so I'm just gonna be direct: it's the siblings. They are the worst part of JJ1 and I cringed every time they appeared. So that's what DD has over JJ. It doesn't have those two.
oh for me it's... it's literally all the supporting characters who aren't Malcolm lol. they're all just the absolute worst and every time they're onscreen I just want Jessica back lmao. it's a pretty big hurdle for any show to clear also from a storytelling perspective hate the introduction of Kilgrave's parents and explanation of his powers with a passion. don't want to sound too negative though: everything with Jess, Malcolm and Luke generally rules
the issue with JJ1 is the same as all of the netflix series - they could stand to cut three-five episodes, depending on the show
That’s something the MCU shows got right. Like people complain about the season lengths but they def would be complaining more if there were filler episodes
The best part of DD season 1 is that you can tell they clearly shot half the show in the same warehouse
Won’t somebody think of the children! https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/da...television-council-slams-decision-1235201449/
God forbid they have to set up parental controls or... you know... actually pay attention to what their children watch.
