At the least, the leakers seem to agree that he is going to be playing a variant of Reed in MoM before/if he plays the main MCU version.
Krasinski is too old to actually play the main MCU version of Richards. They need someone younger than 42 for it. That ship has sailed for him. I would be cool with him playing a Richards variant though for sure, why not.
Introducing a variant of Mr. Fantastic before introducing the MCU Mr. Fantastic would not only be stupid but also dumb.
I for one would much rather have that be the case than have Krasinski actually playing the main MCU Richards, which is a bad call that they shouldn't do
Kang will be played by the same actor. That’s why it’s not dumb. If they hire an actor to play the variant of Mr Fantastic and solely the variant it will be dumb. And if they bring in an actor just for a variant it should be an actor that has already been in the role like the guy from the 2005 film.
I don't fully understand this take in a cinematic universe anchored by Robert Downey Jr and featuring Paul Rudd but hey
I dunno, if the concern is only about age, my personal feeling is that Reed Richard's is someone I really wouldn't mind being older than the others. 42 doesn't sound like a big stretch (lol) to me offhand.
I think they should go with a younger actor just because this is going to be someone they're going to want to have at the forefront of the MCU for a long time most likely. I think someone in their early 30s would be a better pick.
And one could argue that those decisions came back to haunt them in a way. By the end of Downey's tenure, he was barely doing anything in the movies that actually involved action. It was entirely CGI. He wasn't even putting a physical costume on. Rudd is also arguably too old for his role. Also, just because those characters were cast older doesn't mean they should do it again.
Also Krasinski is just a boring choice. I personally don't understand the fans' calls for him to play Reed Richards. If they simply must cast someone in their 40s it should be William Jackson Harper.
