I don’t see Marvel recasting their major roles. The audience becomes too familiar with their faces and they essentially become those characters. I do see Marvel forking out more money to do as much as possible with these actors until they retire.
Marvel is at a younger place than Star Wars as far as franchise lifespans go, but it’s not hard to see that they’ll likely follow the same outline: relying on nostalgia and stuff that people already like rather than push forward and be innovative. Yes, the franchise landscape is different in the last 13 or so years compared to when Star Wars came of age, but I see very few indications that it will be much different. In fact, under Disney I feel like the strategy for both properties is nearly identical.
If they go back to giving people what they want (the same characters we’ve had for the last 10 years) then the new characters won’t feel as important and audiences will always want to go back to the “original” days. I’d much prefer some characters to just stay gone for a while.
Figured they’d just bring everyone back sooner or later. I’d expect to see RDJ back as well. Likely has something to do with Kang coming in.
It’s a win win. If it doesn’t happen then Steve remains gone with his great exit and if it does happen we get Steve back for more stories. Either way I’m not disappointed.
I was watching WandaVision earlier and, as I was doing so, I started thinking about how I'm at a place in my life where I'm far, far more invested and interested in what Marvel is doing than I am in what Star Wars is doing from here on out. Like, I grew up as a total Star Wars fanboy but at this point Star Wars has made so many missteps and mistakes (Rise of Skywalker especially) that I've kind of just become indifferent to it. If you had told me ten years ago that that would be the case I'd have never believed you.
I’m kinda in the same place with both Marvel Studios & Star Wars right now: There’s gotta be a specific hook to make me care, beyond being just another installment of That Thing That I Liked Before. Also, in both cases one of those hooks is Taika Waititi.
I’d be putting money on Hawke playing Dracula or Werewolf by Night. Wasn’t it heavily rumored Werewolf by Night will be the antagonist in Moon Knight?
