My brain went to Dogma instead of Thor when I saw that post and I had a minute of wondering what thread I was in.

Illumynerdi revealed that the casting directors for Moon Knight are mentioning Keanu Reeves for Marc Spector.

The source isn’t sure if they want Reeves or if they are looking for other actors similar to him. It’s worth noting that Marvel Studios wants an actor in the age range of 40 - 50.

A lot of people wanted lebouf to play moon knight and I think that could potentially be a really good but it seems like they would prefer george clooney so

The frontrunner for Ms Marvel is neither Pakistani nor Muslim. She is East Asian though.

I think Marvel is wanting to use their star power to get the ultimate fan castings. If I could pick, I would choose Shia for the role. I think he would be great.

Requiring the actress who plays Kamala to be a practicing Muslim herself feels like a misunderstanding of how religion works & how representation works, lol (though, yes, a story about Muslim characters should obviously have some Muslim creatives).

My main issue if that rumored casting happens is that she’s a lot lighter than the character’s traditional depicted as in the comics. (I think she’s like half Swiss?) Which, is an issue insofar as colorism is still a major problem in Hollywood. Not looking forward to whatever questionable decision ends up being made when they cast Storm.

As for Moon Knight, I don’t care if the guy in the suit practices the faith or whatever. But, casting someone who isn’t at all Jewish as a character who’s the son of a Rabbi would be... not ideal. The same for whenever the Thing & Kitty Pryde eventually show up in the MCU.

 

Yeah, Viswanathan is reportedly the front runner. A lot of actors portray characters who do not share their religion (Charlie Cox isn’t a practicing Catholic). Some online communities favor an actor who practices Islam due to it being a large part of Kamala‘s identity, but I agree that it’s not entirely important so long as the actor studies the religion prior to filming so that they can emotionally invest in the relationship that the character has with their religion and that the script is written by people who understand that same relationship.

This is just me tossing my coin into the bucket, but casting an Indian actress as a Pakistani character just feels too “they all look the same” to me. I do believe that Marvel is holding star power as a high priority if it is true that they are considering Reeves for the role of Marc.

My knowledge about Marc is also very surface level, but is he solely Jewish by blood or does he also practice Judaism?

I was just using it as an example that Marvel may be putting star power as their highest priority.

 

It's worth noting that She Hulk casting was looking for "an Alison Brie type," but they didn't end up going with Alison Brie.

Never been big on AoS. I’d welcome Chloe/Quake into the actual MCU

 

I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marvel just opted not to touch Daisy any time soon. Not like she’s a big character outside of Agents of SHIELD stans.

Chloe Bennet in the role was wonderful, though, & it’d be fun seeing her show up again elsewhere someday.

Especially since Ms Marvel is an Inhuman. (Which... since there’s no dumb Terrigen clouds in the MCU like there were in the comics when Kamala Khan was introduced, lol, using some of that AoS groundwork would be pretty convenient if they were willing to do so.)
