Oh, wow. Coogler says he didn’t know Boseman was sick, or at least not the extent of what he was dealing with.
Full statement: ‘Black Panther’ Director Ryan Coogler On Chadwick Boseman – Deadline There will also be a tribute piece on ABC tonight that myself and another editor worked on that was done hastily, but I think is sweet, along with the film itself.
I rewatched Civil War tonight - just a coincidence, I was up to it in my Marvel runthrough anyway - but man the scene where T'Challa tells Romanoff how Wakandans believe death is not the end absolutely broke me
Is the video Marvel posted (linked two posts above this) the one you worked on? I thought it turned out really well!
A source close to Boseman tells The Hollywood Reporter that the 43-year-old actor, who had become noticeably thin in recent months, was convinced until about a week before his death that he was going to beat cancer and would be able to gain the weight back for a Black Panther sequel that was scheduled to go into production in March. The actor was even set to prepare for the new film beginning in September. Disney sources say the company is processing its grief and that its focus at this stage is to pay tribute to Boseman and not on the making of a Black Panther sequel. Live action Silk television series in development! Produced by Lord & Miller, & Amy Pascal, for Sony Pictures Television. Lauren Moon in talks to write. Supposedly Amazon is a potential home for the series. This is the only comic book television series in development I care about now.
Don’t know the nuances of all these Sony projects and their rights, but I would kill for a crossover film with Venom, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Silk, & whatever other characters they have at that point. Like, maybe a big Venom-centric story where Knull is the villain or something? (Sure, you can also throw Morbius in there, I guess, but maybe keep him in the background & kill him off.)
Sony has to be planning a crossover with multiple franchises in the works. They love money and a Venom-centric story with Silk, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, and maybe a live action Miles that is yanked from the Spider-Verse would result in some fat cash.
I’m gonna go out on a limb & say this part is unlikely at the moment. I think they’re gonna keep Miles in their animated Spider-Verse for now. Then, they’ll have live action Miles in their back pocket for when the Tom Holland Peter gets to college & they get an itch for another high school MCU Spidey film, and/or when Tom wants more time for non-Spidey films so they have another web slinger to use in that continuity.
Amazon sounds like a perfect home for a Spidey show, they're more than willing to invest the big bucks, where I can't see Netflix doing a great job with things like web slinging
I honestly don’t know how trustworthy we got this covered is when it comes to stuff like this but I thought I’d share anyways Shuri Will Reportedly Become The MCU's New Black Panther
It's... not particularly trustworthy, lol. It actually has a super bad track record & super bad reputation among those who closely follow that kinda Marvel/DC/Star Wars gossip online.
WGTC is a broken clock and eventually gets things right. I say this is them just going with the current favorite choice amongst fans as well the most logical. I wouldn’t doubt that discussions are currently being held due to how central T’Challa was going to be in the future films. A lot will have to be restructured pretty quickly.
