The Comic Wonder is reporting that Feige is currently wanting Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Thunderbird, Nightcrawler, Sunfire, Havoc, and Storm to be the first X-Men team and that most of them will make appearances in other films before the first X-Men film. Feige is also interested in Mister Sinister and Sauron being the group’s first set of villains.
I'd be very fine with that team but please for the love of god do not call Jean "Marvel Girl" EDIT: Oh, the source is Mikey Sutton? 95% chance that's not true then lol
I really don’t see this being true at all, but I’d be down for Sauron being introduced. I’d love to see the Savage Land and Ka-Zar
I definitely agree. I would think in terms of MCU diversity at the moment they would probably need to be focusing on Latinx and Asian cast though. The Shang Chi film will definitely help :)
I'd love to see them take a swing at the Ultimates, whether it be its own movie or a Captain Marvel sequel. Might have to replace Black Panther with someone else if they want to keep him more Earth-bound (maybe Quasar?), but it'd be a pretty cool way to get a cool, diverse team and really expand on the cosmic side of the Marvel universe.
Wouldn't Shang Chi be the same sentiment as BP? Hire Blacks for the Black movie vs hire Asians for the Asian movie?
That Anthony Mackie quote isn't about cast, though. Being more inclusive in the actors you put on screen is just one piece of the puzzle. It's about everyone from the producers & directors to costume designers & all the crew on set. Lots of places to improve... preferably w/out lame PR fanfare for basic lack of discrimination (like when online press was all over Rise of Skywalker having a woman as second unit director). That's why I see Lexi Alexander on Punisher: War Zone, Taika Waititi on the Thor films, Chloé Zhao on Eternals (which turned into a diverse cast but isn't that diverse a source material), & Kelly Marcel writing the Venom films as a different, equally important representation win as Ryan Coogler on Black Panther or Patty Jenkins (w/ male screenwriters) on Wonder Woman. We need the stories of marginalized communities shared by those who are of those communities... and, we need to have hiring policies that work to undo that marginalization.
Tim brought up a great point. It's more than adding an Asian hero to the film. It's people behind the scenes as well.
Janelle Monáe Has Spoken To Ryan Coogler About A Role In BLACK PANTHER 2... & She Wants To Play Storm
I dunno how likely it’d be for someone as active in as many ways as Janelle Monáe to sign on for a major Marvel role. I know she’s the one proposing it, but if they wanna use her more regularly over a longer period of time than she’d wanna commit to, that’d be tough. That being said, I’d be very into her as Storm.
