William Jackson Harper or Phoebe Waller-Bridge are my picks for Reed Richards Bill Hader if it has to be a white dude
I'm sorry but I don't think I'll ever buy John Krasinski, the man who wrote and directed the whiteboard exposition dump sequence in A Quiet Place, as the smartest human being in the Marvel Universe
Krasinski is a good example of someone being a good fit look-wise for a role but not at all being right for them on any other level
OMG YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS dammit now i won't want anyone else in the role why did you post this
It almost makes too much sense, like it's so perfect they 100% would never even consider it. Goddamn. This would absolutely rule.
Bill Hader could be a decent Reed, & Emily Blunt could be a decent Sue. I dunno. Other than wanting Ben to be Jewish (which seems likely) & Doom being Romani (which seems unlikely from the studio behind Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One), I don't have super strong casting opinions. I think more about the story than the casting. Whoever writes and/or directs needs to be handed Lee & Kirby's Fantastic Four #1, the first issue of Waid & Wieringo's run, & the first couple issues of Slott & Pichelli's run. All three are great examples of how to introduce an established team to an outside audience. Mix some Future Foundation elements from both Hickman's FF & the Fraction & Allred version into Waid's take. Mix the Ultimate Fantastic Four's Negative Zone origin into the Lee & Kirby origin, w/ a hint of where Hickman left 'em at the end of Secret Wars & how Slott brought 'em back. And, of course, make Annihilus the villain. Oh, also, I'm one of the only people tired of Spider-Man in the MCU, but keep that going long enough for him to be in the movie.
I feel like their powers just aren't great for a movie. Am I offbase, does anyone think they can be done justice?
I mean, the 2015 film was trash & still did kinda fine-ish w/ their powers on an effects level. I don't buy that a Disney Marvel Studios 2020s film can't make stretchy guy, invisible lady w/ force fields, burning man, & rocks look good. It's more so about getting the casting, characterizations, & family dynamic right, & then plugging them into the right story.
