I did not find Ego nearly compelling enough to be in the "best MCU villain" discussion so your inclusion of him here interests me
A lot of it is Kurt Russell's performance, but I thought he was fun to watch. I felt engaged whenever he was on screen, which is not the case for a lot of MCU villains. Guardians 2 is my favorite MCU movie, so there's some bias on my part haha
absolutely bonkers take i could see an argument for GOTG2 being the worst of the MCU more than i could the best.
I know I'm in the minority for having it at #1, but I can't imagine an argument for it being worse than Hulk or the first two Thor movies.
His anger was justified. His plan to overtake another country, use their resources for his war, and kill all natives who didn’t like him was ironically pretty European. but that might have been part of the message about being full of hatred...you become European.
GOTG2 is a top 5 MCU film. The visuals, the character development, the soundtrack, Kurt Russell, baby Groot, etc. best villains by character: Vulture Killmonger Thanos Loki Winter Solider best villains by popularity/commercialism: Thanos Loki Kilmonger I believe Tim mentioned this before but Thanos would have been a better character if his motive was more out of revenge instead of a some altruistic attempt to save the universe from itself. I would have liked if his planet suffered from overpopulation and he asked the elders of the universe for help or to spare them and they didn’t so he decided to use the stones to get revenge and just wipe out half of life.
I don’t care for GOTG 2. But then again nowadays I don’t find myself wanting to rewatch most MCU films.
GOTG2 is solid at best. I was pretty disappointed in that one when I first saw it and I only warmed up to it a little bit when I rewatched it a couple months ago
Can we agree that Endgame is top tier? I personally think the first Avengers is one of the best. Ever since I saw it in theaters I thought it was one of the films closest to feeling like an actual comic book brought to life.
I’m not sure if Endgame is top tier for me either tbh. These are what I think the best MCU films are: Black Panther Guardians Ragnarok Winter Soldier I would put Iron Man, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame below the above four
I’d agree with Black Panther, Ragnorak and Winter Soldier being top tier. I’ve only watched Guardians 1 once and haven’t ever feel like watching it again.
Infinity War would possibly make my top five. It would be between that and Iron Man. I know Iron Man doesn’t have the same flash as a lot of the rest of the MCU films have, but that movie is a stone cold classic for the genre and has held up well to me. I will say though that I preferred Infinity War to Endgame after watching them both a few times now
My least favorite thing about Infinity War is bearded Steve and it bothers me every time he is on screen.
I forgot to include the first Avengers in my second tier of MCU films. I still like that one a good bit Don’t ask me to include a tenth film in this list though because I’m not sure I confidently can
