Thanos in Infinity War is nothing like Darth Vader lol, and that isn't a knock on his quality as a villain either. IW Thanos is a great villain. They just aren't really similar in any way I can think of. And Thanos in Endgame isn't as good of a villain as either Vader or IW Thanos, but that's mostly because Endgame isn't his movie.
I’m not talking about character similarities, but the impact they had on the casual audience and pop culture. I don’t see any other film villain coming closer to Vader in that aspect than Thanos.
No, and that’s why Thanos is the 21st century Vader. In fact, I haven’t heard anyone on my campus mention Gaston while I’ve seen various posts, street paintings, and even people in other countries making comparisons to Thanos or using his quotes. He was the lead villain that wiped out half of the universe in two of the four highest grossing films in which he surprisingly was the victor in one. That makes him stick out and will cause people to memorize him. He is the boogeyman of one of the biggest early-21st century media crazes.

I think I would actually say Heath Ledger’s Joker is our Vader. Let’s put a smile on that face is about as iconic as Luke I am your father. I don’t really see people going around quoting Thanos or dressing like him every Halloween the way they do for Vader and Joker.
I’ve seen a bunch of Thanos for Halloween and hear many people who I know don’t watch many superheroes films talk about Thanos.
