The fact that it’s the Raimi suit leads me to believe that the poster was included to tie Morbius into the current iteration of Spider-Man without explicitly tying it to the MCU. As in, Sony didn’t know at the time they made this what would become of the partnership with Disney, so they hedged their bets for a world where they continued with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man but were no long connected to the MCU. So Spider-Man is seen as the killer of Mysterio because they couldn’t ignore that hanging plot thread, but they could start to distance themselves from anything Disney-related.

If they hadn’t worked a deal out, Holland’s next movie would have likely found him in a very different suit than what he’s worn thus far in the Watts films because they’d no longer be able to reference Stark. People (rightly) remember the Raimi films way more fondly than the awful ASM films, so they went with a suit design they owned and which came from beloved movies.

 

Now that they have a deal worked out you think they would have at least changed the poster in post to look the same as Spider-Mans suit in FFH. Now it’s uncanny since it is supposed to be Tom’s Spider-Man but it’s Tobey’s suit lol

 

Yeah, you would think that wouldn’t you.

 

Could just be a placeholder, too. Funny that it included the game version though.

 

Could be considered an "artist's rendition" in this universe, but yeah, kinda weird lol

 

Anyway who cares, Morbius is going to be trash and Jared Leto is also trash

 

Yep. Although they did nail the look, so it's a shame

 

They could always change the poster. So much stuff is always changed these days even right up until just before release

 

Ok so the trailer also featured Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes. The Sony films are definitely continuing what has been set in the MCU.

 

That's the first time they've connected though, right? There wasn't any Spidey references in Venom as far as I can remember...

Trailer was kinda alright. Definitely got me interested.

 

This will be the first Sony movie connected to the MCU, yes. Wouldn’t be surprised if all of their future films do as well

Okay, still not a fan of Leto, but I actually liked this trailer

 

They're all connected. Venom is too despite not having any overt references to the others. Sony is trying to build the "Spider-Man Cinematic Universe" that they attempted before with the failed ASM movies by using the good work Feige has done for them as the foundation.

 

Now the question is will any of the Sony characters ever be featured in future MCU films or will MCU characters only show up in Sony films. I doubt Feige will want any characters like Morbius or Venom appearing in films he produces.

 

I think as far as we know the deal is only for Spider-Man to appear in crossover films from now on. I think Aunt May in Civil War and Ned in Infinity War/Endgame were special cases.

They are doing a special look or something tonight during the college football playoff championship game for the black widow

 

I'd be more stoked if Leto wasn't in this. This trailer was good and Toomes being in the film is the icing on the cake.
