Agreed with this; it's great that Ryan Coogler will have it on his resume, but when it comes down to it, he won't be making a "Ryan Coogler movie", he'll be making a "Marvel movie". I've always felt that MCU movies just feel like the directors are hired guns; Joss Whedon is the one exception IMO. Also, I hate this trend of MCU movies being described by genre: Thor: Ragnarok Is A Thor and Hulk Intergalactic Buddy Road Movie
You can definitely see Shane Black, Joss Whedon, James Gunn, and Jon Favreau in their Marvel films, and I'm sure you'll see Ryan Coogler in his. These filmmakers aren't losing their flavor so much as mixing their flavor with that of the MCU, and while it'd be fun for a cinematic universe to reach far stylistic extremes, I have no problem with these being built off the same stylistic spine. Seeing what you can fit of your personality into a preexisting structure can be just as fun a creative exercise as stretching into new territory for yourself (though clearly some filmmakers haven't liked that approach, which is also fine).
It makes sense that a brand that big would care as much about the brand as the product, plus I appreciate that they consistently have amazing actors in their films
Current frontrunner for Carol is Brie Larson. Brie Larson the Frontrunner to Play Captain Marvel (EXCLUSIVE)
That would be fantastic casting. It would be slightly disappointing to not see Emily Blunt in that role but Brie Larson is an awesome actress.
I feel like someone surfaces as front runner every few months. I'm kind of over that haha I just want to know the official casting already.
Sounds like Namor might be back with Marvel as well. Could be big for Phase 4... or sooner? http://www.comicbookmovie.com/namor...-the-sub-mariner-are-back-with-marvel-a142261
