Can’t decide between this and Avatar on my day off tomorrow honestly might do a double and spend 7 hours at the theater.
Loved the honey scene in theaters, had me cracking up and cringing so hard. In retrospect, def see how it’s a key counterpoint to Marty’s movitations.
yeah fr no notes here (i wanted more fran drescher, if forced to find something to crit). love how this had all of the energy of a safdie flick but with 15% more heart but still with umpteen moments that had me ripping out my hair. truly a blast. relatively empty theater cackled like a full house. i think the riffing on the "second set of earrings....from earlier" in the park got me laughing the hardest but a lot of great bits from start to finish. as stated above, no wasted dialogue and pretty perfectly ramped up the tension the whole time.
This felt like Safdie trying to win a bet or something. “Oh, you don’t think one movie can be a hero’s epic, a love story, a buddy comedy, a hustler movie, and a sports film? I’ll show you.”
Incredible stuff. My favourite Safdie film and probably Timmy's best performance. Ridiculously entertaining and consistently hilarious. Having almost the entire film take place between the conception and birth of his child was a brilliant idea. It highlights the amount of freedom and self-centeredness young people can have that you generally lose when you become a parent. I'd agree with the "no notes" sentiment I've seen in the thread a few times, I can't think of anything I disliked about it honestly.
