The complete dismissal by the academy of Uncut Gems that year coupled with “feels like a Safdie movie” being said as shorthand in pitches in the years since has helped this movie’s momentum with showering it with Oscar noms
I hated this movie because how are you gonna leave poor Moses an orphan after going through all that shit
This was good. Kevin O’Leary turned out to be surprisingly good casting. The vampire line at the end was so good. Marty what people like him hope from for the “American dream” be willing to degrade yourself and everyone around you for success, as long as it keeps the cogs moving. Having his hallow victory happen in front of the American military was a nice touch. That all being said, and even though this is a far superior film to The Smashing Machine, I can understand more why Ben Safdie wanted to branch out. Yes, this is oversimplifying it, but Josh has essentially made this film three times in a row now. It’s been good all three times, but I’d like to see what else he can do.
Can't believe this is gonna probably make $100m domestic. Pretty crazy for a non-IP movie these days.
I cannot get over this score. Probably the best part of the movie, unbelievable it did not get a nomination. Tangerine Dream core
I saw the vampire stuff and thought it was like youtube analysis shit. It’s literal dialogue in the movie? That makes it so much more interesting
