I don’t think they’re interested at all in being a rock band again. They have to make they’re maximizing profits at all times and that’s not where the money is at.
Yeah, it looks like the current strategy of just being as artistically bankrupt as possible is no longer delivering results, if their chart history is anything to go by.
I think it was written after their manager (Jonah Hill's brother) died and it was sort of a touching song, I thought!
I’ll admit I didn’t look into the meaning of the song. But when a pop song uses “Canon In D” and sings about memories, I automatically think “Well they clearly want this to be a graduation song.”
I just remembered their last album was advertised by the band as a return to form , I didn’t even hate it but they couldn’t have been more off with that
oh, and i only knew/remembered that makes me wonder hit #1 because of tom breihan's number ones column
What about the one with Rhi Rhi? That was a bit of a banger back in the day but they really fell off after that album.
“Songs About Jane” and the Kara’s Flowers albums are so good. But I think Adam Levine was just champing at the bit to sell out and never looked back. I mean, remember that awful Super Bowl halftime show?
Songs About Jane - 8/10 IWBSBL - 7/10 Hands All Over - 5/10 Overexposed - 3/10 V - 5/10 Red Pill Blues - 3/10 Jordi - 2/10 Love Is Like - 1/10
I bailed after V, so I can’t comment on the last three albums, but V is definitely worse than Overexposed or Hands All Over. The one time I ever gave a 0.5/10 score over on AbsolutePunk.net.
I honestly haven't listened to it in many years, so this was off pure memory, you good be very right. Sugar is good though
I remember that album having weirdly rapey vibes, and I don’t think it was just the song “Animals,” which is abhorrent.
I don't even remember that song offhand, not anything else, but I'm not shocked to hear that unfortunately
The 10-year-olds in question are apparently Benny Blanco and Shellback (and Adam) who wrote the song lol
