Nice, didn't know this was coming. Last album was good and promising, hope this takes a step forward.
This is lovely. Had Lucy Rose, Daughter and, oddly enough, Nirvana come to mind most while listening, haha. Her vocal work isn't showy but it's so lush.
"Cigarette" is immaculate. Immediately a top 10 track of the year. This grabs from and seamlessly blends together a bunch of already-awesome styles and turns it into the biggest left-field release of the year for me at least (I have never really seen her name before, apparently I gotta catch up). That baroque-tinged folk to a big gamut of PNW bands (from a vocal melody standpoint, I would have to presume she listened to Nevermind on repeat in the booth before doing takes) to even that subdued, spacy atmospheric stuff bands like Daughter and 1975 get down with, this record touches a lot of bases and does it fucking real well. Will be returning to it very soon.
Yes. Yes it does. It was not as immediate for me as her debut. It actually caught me off guard how different this is.
