Was coming to this thread specifically to post about that song. What a tune

 

Great interview. This is growing on me like ivy, especially “Furthest Thing” and “Detour”. They feel very much like unique-to-her outgrowths of Kacey’s Golden Hour sound.

Side note, I love when an artist is able to talk about what they were going for and accurately describe what they achieved:

She hopes it’s the kind of record that can weave into people’s lives—something that could be played in quiet, domestic settings, even slipping into the background. “I listen to so much music while I’m cooking,” she explains. “I realized after listening to early mixes of this record that it wasn’t hammering my ears with a poppy hook. It was a little more relaxed—but if you want to listen closely, and let it move you, it can.”

 

I just learned that Maren released THREE albums before Hero, the first when she was 14 or 15 or something. I'm not sure if I want to dive in that deep though, there's probably some pretty rough stuff there. Just makes me wonder if there's any hidden gems we haven't heard

 

This album keeps growing on me. Circles Around This Town, Background Music, Tall Guys, Nervous… all so good. But I can’t say enough how much I love Detour. Just a perfect song

 

Saw her last night and she was so much fun. Really do enjoy this album quite a bit, it's up there with my favorites of the year

I wouldn't say her new song with Zedd is particularly good, but it gets stuck in my head a lot

 

I have been really trying to get into Humble Quest lately but I still find myself reaching for Hero. That album is just incredible

Live versions with a nighttime atmosphere, really nice.
