I recently heard a true and devastating story of an infant accidentally drowning in a bathtub because the mother wasn't paying attention, so that scene worked for me.

 

Bathtub scene was great foreshadowing and tension building.

 

Oh absolutely full of tension. My post was more “jesus christ!”

i admittedly suspected billy more than john but still

if it’s john, like it seems, what is the theory for why billy came home covered in blood?

did they move the body? i thought it was said by the priest he basically dropped her off there

 

Yeah I definitely leaned towards Billy but they both felt kind of sketchy to me in that first scene. At first I thought maybe it was just the acting but it felt more intentional

 

Her body was nude on a rock in the middle of a stream so I would guess there was some movement involved

 

for sure

 

My biggest question is what are the kids covering up and how it's related. I'm swirling around a wild theory... John is a pedophile. Maybe he abused all of them and they don't want their secret to get out. He could be abusing his own son which is why all the rage. And maybe even abused others in the past like his own brother or Mare's son.

 

I just assume he realized he loved the kid and didn't want there to be any proof out there of who the real father was.

 

Yeah Erin's body ended up back in the woods where the party was. She got a ride to Brandywine Park from the priest, which I think Mare said was 12 miles away.

 

I could be totally reaching here, but any chance Lori killed Erin because she found out what John had been doing (grooming and abusing Erin and probably others)? She's stated multiple times that she still loves him no matter what he does. Also I'm curious what further role Dylan played in her death, if any. She probably would have had just as much access to Mare's father's pistol as John or Billy, too. Not saying that's the gun that was used, but I think there's a good chance it might have been the gun.

 

Tbh Dylan could have just went for a random drive lol

 

On episode three and I despise this show at the moment. Bored out of my mind with bad writing and CSI level dialogue in way too long episodes. I really hope this gets better because I’m on my phone instead of paying attention.

 

It definitely gets better as it goes on but I never felt it was CSI-level bad.

 

My wife and I have been making fun of the scenes with Mare's mom and how off they are compared to everything else and in last weeks ep, when they're having the heart to heart she made a fart noise and we both started laughing....and then they had a fucking fart joke in the show!

I know that sounds like a "this didn't happen" story but it did!

 

I read something last week I think it was where the actress that plays her mom who I am totally blanking on the name right now asked the director if, for every scene she has, they can shoot a take where she's funny. And apparently they've used that take a few times. I've enjoyed it honestly, the show is very bleak otherwise without the mom's scenes haha

 

Eh, I've seen enough shows that are bleak as hell and balance it with humor in a way that actually fits or doesn't feel out of place. Throwing in that sitcom ass score under the "family meeting" scene...what the fuck was that haha?

 

The farting sequence definitely felt out of place, in fact I kept waiting for her shoes to squeak when she got up to get the door right after her comment. However, all the other humor has been pretty spot on I feel like.
