Grant Hill never won NPoY and his resume is as good as a college players can look. (So good he’s now in the hall of fame based a whole lot on it.)
Yeah after looking at a list, you probably can’t even argue he’s top 50. There’s guys on there I forgot existed.
We just see things differently. You guys would rather put some guys that up hollow numbers on teams that don't win ala Trae Young. I would rather slightly lesser numbers and wins. Winning matters. Its whatever, though. You guys won't agree with me and that is fine
Lew Alcindor Pete Maravich Bill Walton Hank Gathers David Thompson Freeman Williams Glenn Robinson J.J. Redick Danny Manning Christian Laettner Len Bias Tyler Hansbrough Glen Rice Ralph Sampson Jason Williams Grant Hill Larry Bird Magic Johnson Patrick Ewing Jerry Lewis Bill Russel Wilt Chamberlin Tim Duncan Waymon Tisdale Wes Unseld Austin Carr Jerry West Oscar Robertson Hakeem Olajuwon Cracking top 30 is ridiculous.
juan dixon is significantly better than brunson too and i wouldn't necessarily argue for him to be on that list above either
He wasn't around long enough to crack any all-timer list, but in terms of recent guys, Anthony Davis had one of the most dominant college seasons I can remember and won a title.
This is a good list. Most of these guys also went on to have some fucking insane pro careers as well. There's not many busts on here.
I mean Pistol Pete is a prime example of how stats can be important. Dude never even made the tournament but he's regarded to some people as the best college player of all time. I'm not completely disagreeing with you. These days people only want to talk about stats. The only time you hear about championships is in a Lebron/Jordan argument.
That season was one of the more impressive things I've ever seen. From a just watching a player play in college level Kevin Durant and the 8 games of Kyrie Irving were the only other times I remember thinking "yeah, there's no reason for these people to be in college, just go to the NBA." Different category, but yeah.
Antawn Jamison put up some sick ass numbers in college, too. He averaged 15 points, 9 rebounds his freshman year! And only got better.
yeah, but how many of those wins over three years was he such an important part in? he had an incredible year but he wasn't even a top two option until this year
And I left off Jordan on that list. Champion/player of the year/ACC player of the year/ACC rookie of the year/2x first team all american/2x first team all ACC. 17p/5r on 54% shooting in three years.
I mean, he played less than 1 minute per game more this year than he did last year and he was a freshman starter on a team that won the title too. He has been a very important player for 3 years.
Heh, yeah, you could. I was thinking that as I was looking at stuff. For example ... Bobby Hurley has: 2× NCAA champion (1991, 1992) NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player (1992) Consensus first-team All-American (1993) Third-team All-American – AP, UPI (1992) First-team All-ACC (1993) 12p/7.7a (41/40/77) averages / all time Duke assist leader with 1076 and top 10 in steals. That's one helluva college career.

Which is totally fine! Starting caliber small forward is such a need league wide that an improved version of Otto Porter is pretty darn valuable in the NBA. Especially for teams picking 8-10 as opposed to, say, 3rd where Otto went.
If he is available, I doubt he falls beyond the Bulls (assuming they are picking 7-9). GarParx, historically, have loved older players.
