I can't help to hear Fly Like an Eagle when hearing Future Proof's chorus, especially with the way Keith says "future" it irks me. The line "You ain't cool out here" sounds cringey. I still haven't listened to the whole album but from what I read theres a major drop in quality in his lyricism on a lot of songs. Keith has always been one of my favorites.
They sounded pretty solid tonight but boy was it awkward lol. Crowd did not know what to do with them and Keith kept trying to urge them for more. As a person that’s ran this back a few times in the last 24 hours, I had a good time. Speechless and Enough went crazy
I like this quite a bit on two listens so far. I do feel like it could be a bit stronger as a whole, there's a few songs that just don't fully do it for me, but solid first record and happy to have Keith back in any capacity.
Won’t be coming back to this. the creativity and cleverness of keith’s lyrics are gone. the riffs are so generic some of them are what Jordan would do as a joke “shit riff”
It's sad to watch, Keith has been one of the best in our scene, there was so much potential to write great lyrics about his new found faith.
After hearing the album and seeing that Keith kicked out his main writing partner I can only assume he wants a new writing partner cause he ultimately wasn't happy with the overall album. But that doesn't excuse the lyrics generally being a step down from what he's known for. I think the album is fine overall but I won't be returning to it much. I recently got into ETID and have been having a great time with their catalog. Mostly the later albums. you must not have heard servant yet!
It's like he forgot how to write, where is the same keith that wrote Pelican of The Desert? Or a majority of the lines in ETID discography?
its very ok. the vocals are decent, lyrics are decidedly a step back from ETID level writing, production and instrumentation is several steps back from ETID levels, but nothing outright bad. Speechless and Future Proof were kinda cool. Don't see myself coming back to it that much if im being honest. I am going to the sum 41 tour soon so we'll see how it is.
Even though it was a red flag that they kicked out their guitarist already, I hope whoever they bring in is miles above better songwriting wise
I completely tuned out of etid related music when I heard the first better lovers song and didn't like the vocals. I guess at some point I thought many eyes was the same band. Learned today that they are not the same band. That is all
Here’s to hoping keith will write interesting lyrics again. Nothing on the debut touches his other work with a ten foot pole.
