"I gave you nothing / You want more? / You'll get more nothing" I mean the guy is basically Shakespeare
Copped a shirt in support. Good first track for the band. And as far as lyrics go, I was a fan of the sticking the landing on a leap of faith line. I chuckled hearing that, in a good way.
The lyrics and the press release just show that his ego is still out of control. There’s nothing remotely apologetic or remorseful, just righteousness. The press release implies being sober is why he couldnt be in ETID anymore. Considering one of the AA steps is asking forgiveness ? Guess he skipped that step.
As an alcoholic who is over six years sober, I am not a fan of AA and the steps so judging someone’s journey through sobriety based on if they’re following the steps or not is not the move, if you ask me.
I’m confused, what is he supposed to be apologizing for? I’m genuinely asking because all I’m aware of is that he had a falling out with the band and especially his brother and nobody knows all the details about what really happened between them. He’s supposed to apologize for personal drama or is there shit I missed? Anyway, I love this song. This is more my thing than Better Lovers
too much to get into, but a lot of shit went down in fall/winter 2020 if you feel like digging back there
If we’re gonna start expecting apologies out of the band then Jordan can first start with apologizing for defending QAnon bullshit, something I found way more unforgiving than Keith’s sobriety and desire to be in a different place after getting clean. The break up was ugly, but Keith sounds better than ever. BL strikes me as leftover ETID riffs being fed to Greg. This is Keith finding an outlet with session musicians to keep doing his thing without trying to emulate ETID again. I’ll be far more into this than BL. What I think is lost here is the angle in which Keith writes his lyrics as if he’s in a mirror. Very much aware of where he is now, how he’s been perceived since the break up, and that regardless of how it appears on the surface, he’s better off this way. I love it.
I don't think I'm in the camp of "glad we have two bands now". Feels like both bands are just lacking "something", but maybe that's just my preconceived notions sneaking in. Song is cool. Don't love the chorus, a little too clean. Drums feel weak compared to ETID stuff too.
