I really like this a lot. Knowing only Drunk II beforehand, it’s fair to say some of the lyrics caught me off guard lol.
This is growing on me with every listen. Absolutely love this. The only songs I’m not super keen on are I Don’t Know You and Of Her. And even they are still pretty good. Comfortably my favourite release this year so far.
Feel like I'm listening to a different song than everybody else, "I Don't Know You" is such a highlight
The long roll out hurt the impact of this for me. But the highs are very high. Back half loses me, particularly the heavier stuff that I enjoyed a lot more on the last album.
Has anyone mentioned how much I GoT Heaven is like Sleep Now in the Fire by RATM. In the best way of course.
The end of Nothing Like might be my favorite part of the album. It hits so hard. Dare I say it even remind me a little bit of Motion City Soundtrack? (Or at least some of Justin’s solo stuff)
finally got around to this and it completely rips. i like patience a lot but this is such a massive step up.
yeah after hearing this a few more times i’m comfortable saying it’s the best thing i’ve heard so far this year
Tomorrow. Do I pick up a ticket to see them and Soul Glo in Indy or drive 90 mins to Bloomington and see Ratboys and Ducks Lmtd. ?
I have seen Ratboys three times on their new record and they rip live and so do the new songs. The band sounds super tight live. I’ve never seen Mannequin Pussy and am less of a fan of them but they’re popping off right now so you’ll probably have less chances to see them in small venues going forward. Although, I also feel like Ratboys are just one album away from having a Wednesday-type blow up (this album is definitely putting them on the right trajectory) so the same may apply to them. Sorry that doesn’t help much haha.
Would probably have to go with MP on this one but either show sounds awesome, I don't think you can go wrong
Sometimes the way I look at it if multiple shows I want to go to are happening the same day is whoever is playing at a smaller venue/show because they probably need more of the support vs a bigger band. I guess with Mannequin Pussy and Ratboys it’s not that big of a difference (touring is hard on both of their levels), but still something I think about sometimes.
Just got out of the MP show… definitely pick them. Really feels like they’re having their moment. The show was great and this was probably my favorite time seeing them. I also enjoyed Soul Glo a lot more than the last time I saw them. I guess indoors in a venue with good sound is a better setting for them than an outdoor festival on a beach, who could’ve guessed?
