As someone else pointed out Gary Oldman in addition to being antisemitic is also playing like a 45 year old also I hate the title I'll still love it though
Mank is the front runner for pretty much everything it gets nominated for imo. Beloved director who is beyond “due”, a star who is respected and liked (despite being a huge pos) playing a Hollywood legend, and a movie about Hollywood/making movies. That’s as close to a perfect recipe for great Oscar success as you’re gonna get tbh.
Yea I think Fincher might be a lock for a best director win here. Best Picture is always a crapshoot (see: 2018 was Green Book but then 2019 was Parasite)
This is really good, if not as purely entertaining as Fincher's best movies. The sound design and score are exceptional and do a lot of work toward creating the mood of films from that era. Tom Burke as Orson Welles looks so much like Fincher that it cracked me up every time he was on screen.
This was solid. Fincher seemed to be having fun and have a lot on his mind, though it's not as complete quality as his best work.
