I feel so bad voting against any of the three, but at the end of the day I guess I want to see Hot One win. I cast a vote for Shake It Out.
I think The Silence is perfect. It builds organically into that ending, which is my favorite part of the album. The River doesn't feel that way to me. It's just soft verse loud chorus soft verse loud chorus. I do appreciate how the instrumentation reminds me of flowing water, though.
The Silence is so much better than The River. It's not even worth comparing for me. I'd also take Colly Strings over The River too. It's not a bad song it's just the other two are brilliant.
And Lucas, who hadn't participated in any of these polls, swoops in out of nowhere to ensure the safety of his two favorite songs on the record! And he also narrates his own life!
AND THE UNDERTAKER COMES OUT OF NOWHERE KILLING SHAKE IT OUT AND THE RIVER. I CAN FEEL THE HOT ONE TAKES IT. Oh, and we are starting Simple Math Elimination with a double elim round 1 https://goo.gl/forms/xQ43iOhaqSISWJSm1
Simple Math is a very unique record to me in the fact that different songs have been my favorite through different parts of my life. There is such an interesting nuance within some of these songs and the experimentation that they played around with was a key stepping stone for their future with A Black Mile. Fantastic music video, the title track is also performed really well live. Deer is such a hauntingly beautiful opener, Mighty is a little underrated, Pensacola is a blast to sing out loud live, April Fool is a JAM to sing in the car, Pale Black Eye is a RAGER live, Virgin has an awesome music video and I personally love the kid chorus and marching, Simple Math has a fantastic and original music video with the Daniels, Leave it Alone has some wonderful lyrics and rises and falls, Apprehension has a decent sound to it and Leaky Breaks is eh to me. This will be a tough one, not because it's my favorite, but because this record really depends on my mood.
I regret to inform you, "Shake It Out" and "I Can Feel a Hot One" are my favorites. I take full responsibility for the demise of "The River".
It has grown on me a LOT. I love the ending, but overall I wouldn't say it is the best. Singing songs of my healthiest fears, what a lyric. I would have expected Mighty and Apprehension to go before it though
