Obviously I'm super excited for a new MO album, but I might be just as stoked if Andy does another solo project.

About halfway through it right now. Crazy that it is all voices, some really beautiful tracks on here.

Cope and Hope both bored me to death, so I'm with you there. I'm still holding onto hope that their next album will be good though.

Loved Cope aside from the production.

I used to look at Andy as a guy who could do no wrong, but Cope proved me wrong. That album was a disaster. With that said, this soundtrack is fantastic and took a level of creativity that I didn't know they had in them. This gives me hope that they might do something weird and good with their next album.

I'm curious, is Cope anyone's favorite Manchester Orchestra album?

I think the songs on Cope are fine, if a little one-note at times, but the production is what really makes it blend all together for me.

Like the stuff from Simple Math, the live versions of the songs are just so much better, in my opinion.

The Swiss Army Man soundtrack is pretty cool and, as said above, unexpectedly creative. I'm excited to see how that affects the next album, given how much time Andy and Robert spent working on all that. I still think they can put out something awesome, even if I didn't care for Cope that much.

never cared much for cope's production, but the songwriting is just as bland.

was super pissed that they basically just ripped themselves off w/ the riff from "pride" being used on the title track.

    Hope.

just kidding. Simple Math. I'll try to listen to them both now and come back with a verdict.

Interesting. My favorite album is Simple Math, but least favorite is Cope. The two albums are like the polar opposites of each other, so I've never seen someone split between those two.

Absolutely. I get that. They both just hit me so hard at pivotal times of my life so i've got very strong and different emotional ties to each of them.

An argument could be made for all four being their best.
