I thought it was about a town and how it changes over like 100 years (That concept sounds familiar, I feel like there's a famous book like that...)
I got into Manchester bc I wanted to go see kevin Devine in philly, missed baldness of devines set bc be actually played first instead of balance and composure, who were also good.. I saw Manchester not really being a fan and was absolutely floored. The vocals were flawless and the dynamics were perfect, best live experience from a band I didn't really know. This was literally right after cope came out and I remember being so impressed with the ocean.
Just give it to us already! I can't handle the complete and utter nonsense going around in this thread
I'm really curious if they're going to officially replace Chris before the tour or just have fill ins until they find the right guy, like when Jere left.
oh thats right i forgot Chris left, thats a bummer. He always added great textures plus he was just fun to watch live. It was cool watching a guy essentially be the biggest fan of the band he was in haha.
I'm just realizing that Andy was only 19 years old when ILAVLAC was written. Amazing how well made that album is for being written by someone just out of HS.
I agree there is a lot of Brand New talk in here, but it's not that unfair to bring them up. Most people I know who are into Manchester Orchestra are into them because of their involvement/friendship with Brand New and because MO has been on tour with them so many times. I've personally seen MO open up for Brand New four different times on three different tours since 2007. So it's not like some random connection people are trying to throw out there. The two bands are clearly pretty close.
I definitely discovered Manchester Orchestra, Thrice, and mewithoutYou through their relationships with Brand New. Thankful for it. Love all of these bands.
For sure, 100%. But to constantly compare records and songs between them is pretty off base, given how different they really are at this point. I want to say that on a certain level, MO and Kevin hate the constant BN talk to them from every third person they meet at shows. That's how I'd feel, but maybe that's just me being a bad person.
We've got no news on the MO front, so we're just having a different discussion. We could do rankings again if that's preferred
Hoping for soft af. (I'm seriously excited for whatever direction they choose. I feel like they're in a very creative spot currently.)
Aside from Cope and hope they've usually been a fairly even mix, so I'd expect something like that again
Cope's not a bad album. It's a bunch of good individual songs that suffer as a group because they sound too similar. Top Notch, Trees, Indentions, and Cope are some of my favorite MO songs.
That's tough. Maybe like a double concept album like Saturday Night/Sunday Morning or the Alchemy Index. You couldn't blend them but you can separate them within the album.
