I love so many songs on Cope but listening to it front to back can just bleed everything together. Top Notch, The Ocean, Trees, and Cope are some of their best songs.
I've always said this, but Cope has some great songs. And it works well as something where you just put tracks into random playlists. But as an album, it all bleeds together and is honestly just exhausting to listen to start to finish. It would have benefited from After the Scripture, and maybe one more song with breathing room being fit into it to break the one note feel it can have. I always throw Cope songs into work out playlists, and I love the songs there. But I haven't made it through that album start to finish since the year it came out.
After the Scripture is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Cope is good but definitely my least listened to record of theirs
I wish After the Scripture had ended up on the album. It would have diversified it a little more. That song is absolutely fantastic. Does anyone remember when Simple Math came out, Andy and Chris () Said they had recorded a bunch of heavier songs, and said they might release like a b-sides album that contained the heavier stuff that didn't fit on Simple Math? Why the hell did we never get that!
I remember that. I'd love for that to see the light of day. And, that absolutely should've been the closer
I think you're referring to Sinful Math. I would love to hear that. He tweeted a clip a while ago with one of the songs.
I really hope Sinful Math eventually sees the light of day and doesn't end up collecting dust in Brand New's attic
It'll come out for sure, he's probably going to release it after this album cycle. He has so many records that he's never released.
^thats fake. He just changed "Guided by Voices" to "Manchester Orchestra" in his iTunes and took a picture of it
You guys remember this cover? I used to listen to this like every night for a while. I just realized iTunes deleted it from my library/iPod and I no longer have it :(
