Didn't Andy make a comment a few months ago how this album would have quite a bit of features and it would be like a indie rock hip hop vibe due to all the features?
Just looked all over the internet for his quote and of course I can't find it but now I'm thinking I heard him say it in a podcast earlier in the summer because I know for sure I heard him say the album wouldn't be released until 2017.
Yeah I kind of thinking it might be a Pedro The Lion cover because of the caption. Would be amazing if it's for the record though.
How surreal for Julien. I watched an interview with her where she stated she loved David Bazan, Andy Hull, and Aaron Weiss, and then months later she's in the studio with Andy possibly recording a Bazan cover.
I still remember when RAGC was going to have a "reaction" ep from The crew of the ship that was all of the lead singers of FG singing songs about what the captain has done.
I remeber Kevin, I think it was him, said Vin was originally supposed to be in Bad Books and that'd finally be the band that would have members from all three of those groups in it but it didn't work out.
METN is like the weirdest combination of Pinkerton and The Devil & God Are Raging Inside me. It's one of those off-kilter masterpieces that just sees the band reaching their fullest potential
I feel the opposite. I don't think they'll ever make anything as powerful or impactful as METN. And that's ok, I don't expect them to
Andy is much a better singer now, if they could write a more dynamic cope with better production I think it could be their best record. I have enourmous expectations for lp 5
Nope. METN is a good two levels above Virgin imo. It's more sprawling, more dynamic, better written, and has better production
Need to listen to virgin and meta and cope this week those are their top 3 I think. I have no desire to go to simple math any time soon I don't know why bc it used to be my favorite
I'll go ahead and state my case. I think songs like Shake It Out and Pride are great, heavy, aggressive rock songs and then softer songs like I Can Feel A Hot One have some of the best lyrics I've ever heard from a rock band. The album also has a thematic core of religious struggles mixed in with various refrains and interconnecting lyrics. The pure pop goodness of I've Got Friends has a subtle darkness to it that I love, and alt rock jams like Only One and In My Teeth help seal the deal on this being an indie rock classic. Plus the production is so lush and full sounding, the pianos and bass sound vibrant, the drumming and cymbal crashes very powerful and precise, and the guitars are this crashing tidal wave of sound and complexity. The songwriting is also stellar, with songs climaxing perfectly like in The River. Don't get me wrong, I adore Virgin as well but it's just a notch below the magnificence that is METN
i will respond to this in depth after class. i dont disagree w most of it tho (but i dont like pride)
