whats your fav manchester orchestra song and why is it i was a lid

 

For the longest time, I thought the opening lyric of I Was A Lid was "I was a lid on a heist we barely speak of". As a result, I'm always thinking of scenes from heist movies whenever I listen to it.

 

I think it has to be Apprehension for me. Encompasses everything I love about the band. Sick drum groove, great dynamics, haunting lyrics, and has a mood/dread that feels like it's about to unwind at any moment.

 

probably my fav simple math track. the "pushing it out, i heard the healthiest move is to abandon all of my blemish" is my favorite part of the record.

 

Anyone ever heard of these “blackbird sessions” they are referencing on their Patreon?

 

No, I hadn’t. my assumption is that they spent some time there while working on Simple Math. Speaking of that, The new song this month is great!

 

Also I was searching to see if there were lyrics online for one of the Patreon songs and found this old article from Jan 2011.

fell behind cos of life and all that shit, but catching up now and "Last Remark" and "Brutus" are both absolute fucking rippers

I like some of these demos more than some full Simple Math songs, with all love for that album

 

Interesting with Apprehension as the closer. Second favorite song off that record.

Did anyone here go to the show on the weekend?

 

Andy and Rob did an amazing job despite the freezing weather. An eclectic setlist spanning all the albums.

Andy's voice live is really something else. If you had told me the first time I got to see Manchester would be in 2020 on a farm during a global pandemic, I probably wouldn't have believed you. It was surreal seeing live music again. The crowd was so thankful!

Andy let the crowd know that Rob suffers from Raynaud's disease. "In Raynaud's phenomenon, smaller arteries that supply blood to the skin constrict excessively in response to cold, limiting blood supply to the affected area."

It was around 45 degrees and Andy said Rob loses feeling in his hands when it is lower than 60. Props to Rob! He played so well!

 

Both that news and that song break my heart, but I get it. The lyrics are so brutal.
