Caption on that Instagram picture includes a quote from Pedro The Lion. Would not be surprised if they're covering Bazan, given both of them have expressed their admiration for his work (AS ALL SHOULD).* *Well, I seem to remember Julien saying something about him, but I could be wrong.
I was wondering where I knew that line from. Honestly if this is what it is I might die of happiness. 3 of my favorite artists all connected.
ya, julien is a big pedro the lion fan..and holy shit if they end up covering anything bazan related i'll die.
well you definitely started at the top. my next fav PTL release is the only reason i feel secure, which is what andy has covered. and then achilles heel but i feel like achilles heel would probably be a bit more accessible. honestly though, aside from control i connect a lot more with his solo material. curse your branches might be the most existentially crushing album i've ever heard. hearing the heartbreak of someone coming to terms with that loss of faith is crippling at times. definitely up there with his best work. also he just put out a new one that is super synthy and fucking awesome - so i'll plug that as well Album - David Bazan - Blanco (May 13, 2016)
Winners Never Quit is the most similar to Control at least style wise. It's a real short and sweet concept album.
Bummed I just realized it's been almost 2 1/2 years since we've gotten either an MO, RAGC or Bad Books album :( How was the Swiss Army Soundtrack? I've only listened to bits and pieces, was going to purchase but I saw the majority of the songs were really, really short so I had my doubts.
I commented on this a few pages back, but basically, the whole thing is great but I only find myself going back to the handful of songs with lyrics. Just skim through it on Spotify and figure out what sticks. Highlights are Cave Ballad, Cotton Eye Joe into Jurassic Park, Montage, River Rocket, and A Better Way.
I thought I remembered them saying that they would properly release Nobody Sings Anymore eventually and give it the vinyl treatment.. Or did I just imagine that....?
They definitely did, but it also took forever to get RAGC repressed after Andy said it would be. That's just how it goes with vinyl these days.
Machester Orchestra mentioned they're working on a new album on a radio interview. Apparently it's a concept album about the experiences of a family in a town over 100 years. Sounds kind of cool.
I was hoping to catch that interview they did but couldn't find it online anywhere. Did they mention anything about another Bad Books album? Or when new MO album may be released?
I missed it too, but someone on reddit reported the announcement from it. They mentioned touring in Spring, so maybe/hopefully around then. Don't know about Bad Books though.
