I was really hoping an updated METN live album would come out around the time of the 10 year. As mentioned previously, the way the band has developed these songs in their current setlist is absolutely insane. Soho and Park Ave are great, but imagine having side by side 2019 versions. One can wish.
Sleeper 1972, Golden Ticket, and Alice and Interiors are some of their best too. That's when you know ILAV isn't their weakest as a whole
Simple Math is a really interesting record. The first three songs are pretty unremarkable to me. Then the rest of the album is just fantastic. Some of their absolute best stuff. I can't think of another record that does that for me.
i think simple math is really scattershot, sonically, even if almost every song on there is great and that’s i have to imagine part of why people are lukewarm on it? cause it’s by far their least cohesive
All great songs that I would rather watch post-METN live videos of on youtube than listen to the album version of. Need to see if I can find a live version of Where have you Been where it really builds up at the end that doesn't have ***** ***** in it.
I was at the MO show in 2011 in Cleveland the Friday before Simple Math came out (May 6, 2011 to be exact). I bought the record that day at a local record store that used to sell CDs the Friday before the Tuesday release date. So i listened to i tall day before the show and Pensacola was probably my immediate favorite from the album. I remember the band started to play Pensacola that night and I was so pumped. I assume it was the first time ever in front of an audience, and they played like, the first 10 seconds of it and then stopped and played another song instead.
I think their sound twists and turns with every record. But I do think the BM follow up with be more like BM. Andy’s done with the loud for right now.
I Can Barely Breathe live is a straight spiritual experience for me. It’s SO MUCH better than the recorded version, that I honestly barely listen to it anymore. I want the live version in HQ.
Same, I know they shared a video of them playing a new song on Instagram months ago and it sounded real neat. I trust these guys.
