I was really into it when it came out, but never revisited it much later that year or in the years that followed. Just started listening to this band again today for the first time in a while though so I'm looking forward to revisiting Simple Math and seeing if it can reel me back in
simple math is quite good. leaky breaks might be my favorite of their songs. the most recent one is the only one i don't like.
Constantly forever always a release behind, ever since Simple Math. I like Black Mile, but I know it won’t hit-hit until the direct lead up to the new record. I still listen to Cope more, even while acknowledging the songs on BM are better in almost every conceivable way.
couldn’t disagree more. there isn’t a single standout song on BM. cope has some of the band’s best songwriting, it’s just mixed horribly.
I have high expectations for their next record to be a blend of the best elements of their last three (there were some areas where I think they were lacking on the last 3).
Damn, I think The Silence and The Moth are two of their best songs. The Gold, The Grocery, and The Wolf are great ones too. The rest of the album, however, tends to just fly by me every time
I understand that everyone has their opinions, but that opinion is one that my brain cannot comprehend haha
BM is thier best sorry not sorry. You're right there are no standout tracks, but that's cause everything is 10/10.
I don’t really care, you can obviously like what you like, but you’re also the one who brought it up.
I’d still say that Simple Math is my least favorite in their discography, but I actually enjoyed it from start to finish this time for the first time in years. Standouts, for me, were Mighty, Pensacola, Apprehension, and Leaky Breaks. I thought Virgin and Simple Math were really good too.
I find Simple Math meanders a bit, but the good songs on that are so very good. I also know they didn’t put all their best songs from that area on the album (let’s us hear Sinful Math Andy!), so I found that odd about that album.
