That link said valley of vision was the end? Then comes the haunting surrealism in the final installment, “The Valley of Vision.”

didn’t care for it at all

still like this record and black mile a good amount but i’d like them to get out of their seated theater james taylor core vibe and start rocking again

I know it shouldn’t matter - but I really didn’t like the “I don’t want to hold back my faith anymore line” in let it storm. May have made it my least favorite song. I just don’t relate *shrug*

Seems like a pretty inoffensive line to be bothered by.

    I do not exist.

I know a lot of people have preferred their older work vs the newer cinematic releases, but for me these last three releases have been the pinnacle of Manchester Orchestra so far. I just love the emotion, the vibe, the atmosphere.

Incredible band whatever connects with you most.

It will be interesting to hear where they go next though.

Past few albums have been great. I'm ready for a new sound/switch though.

Didn't the band hint at leaning more into a heavier/rock sound for this upcoming one

They obviously could have written a whole new batch of songs since then but at that “secret” show last year they played 12 songs and if I remember correctly I’d say roughly 5-6 could have fit in on the last two records and maybe 3-4 struck me as them “finding the heavy” again.

I do wonder if a cope tour and playing METN at the stuffing made them want to revisit their heavier/rock side.

Also if anyone doesn’t subscribe to their Patreon but doesn’t mind spending $15 once to access the back catalog of live EPs or whatever, I finally did it and that place is a treasure trove of alternate takes on existing songs. A lot of them are reminiscent of the old daytrotter sessions if anyone remembers those.

Capital Karma and The Way are two of my favourite MO songs, I know music is subjective but calling Valley of Vision straight up bad is crazy to me

I can go either way. I’ve really enjoyed Black Mile and Million Masks. Ep was interesting and Capital Karma was great. Didn’t really spend a whole lot of time with it mainly due to my company selling during the time it released and it just wasn’t the vibe I wanted at the time. Maybe I’ll revisit it.
Regardless yes I would like them to get wild with the next one.

I love all their stuff so much. To me they’ve proven that they absolutely kill at any sound they choose. If their new stuff sounds their old stuff, cool. I don’t care if it’s soft, heavy, or completely different than anything they’ve ever put out. I have more trust in this band than any other band. I’m ok to let them cook

    Fight the long defeat.

Except The Parts?! Oh my. I could hear an argument that it's a bit out of place sonically on that album, but thematically it's such a beautiful piece of the story. But maybe it's the fact I had my daughter last year.
