yeah, don’t get me wrong, i always love seeing them. just probably not an experience i’d drive multiple hours for again unless the lineup is can’t miss in a future year, since the manchester part of the show itself isn’t markedly different from any other city.

also, the size of the band part isn’t really relevant. plenty of bands smaller and larger than them play different sets night to night. if you have a good sound and lights crew, which i’d imagine they do, it isn’t as impossible as you’re making it out to be.

Seriously. Make a generic song light show for when you want to change it up last minute or whatever.

There are plenty of bands at the same level as MO - - and above - that switch their set lists every night. To suggest it’s not reality is comical.

MO should just hire the kid from School of Rock who improvised the light show when the band agreed to play the song that they hadn’t originally planned on for Battle of the Bands

They don’t want to do a ‘generic’ light show. They want to maximize as much as they can with the production they’ve wanted to do for years, that they now have.

As has been talked about, numerous times, they take the sequencing and transitions/interludes between songs pretty seriously. Thus the ‘play’ type ~acts~. It’s a show.

The setlists for this tour were being talked about long before the record was even finished.

I’m agreeing with you while trying to explain their side of it.

to argue on behalf of the people who seem to be taking issue with it, it seems like having a set light show or set list isn’t inherently bad for a tour. More that, since they are hosting this lite festival, they could possibly consider doing something more to differentiate from the entirety of their other shows on the current tour.

They can do whatever they want and I will still see them whenever they come to town. But if I were planning to go to the Stuffing while having already seen them at a previous date on the tour, I’d feel perfectly valid being disappointed if the set or show didn’t vary that much.

all im saying is there are bands their level, bigger, and smaller that have great stage production as well and still change the setlist up, if not for every night of the tour like pearl jam, then especially for hometown “special” shows

It's not even like they do anything that crazy or cool for production lol.

I personally am completely 5000% satisfied with zero production, just plug in your shit and go.

That’s my peak dream for most bands, MO being among them.

Nine Inch Nails possibly being the exception (but the Wave Goodbye tour was still fantastic).

an example of a band that plays a different set nearly every night with crazy production value lol

    though tbf i don’t think they’ve toured since 2018/2019ish

That’s an extreme outlier, Trent employs an entire production company and preps for two months prior to even getting on the bus.

I mentioned them as an example of a band I may prefer to see with total production. I acknowledged that they were still phenomenal with less production too.

You said they were a band that constantly changed their sets, with crazy production.

I agreed, and said they were an extreme outlier in doing both, to the level they do. As Trent goes through months planning and paying folks to make sure he’s able to do that.

i’m talking about NIN. YOU may be getting caught up on the wrong details.

For album tours I get the preset set list.

For a hometown festival I get the frustration with nothing being special about it other than more bands on the bill.

Not to be a contrarian, because I know nobody here ever is, but wouldn’t a selfie imply you took the photo yourself?
