Aren't many of the venues they're playing Live Nation clubs that will be requiring vaccination by the time they come through?

Both of my dates (Boston, Portland, ME) will be vaccination only by the time the tour is scheduled to hit.

the size venues they play in their hometown are about the same as they play in any A market tho

Interesting. My show is in Boston but I haven't gotten any emails about HoB being vaccinated only. Their website only says that masks are required

I haven't seen any official announcement, but I'm basing it on Live Nation's announcement of going vaccine/negative PCR only as of October 4th. House of Blues is, to my knowledge, a Live Nation venue, unless something has changed or it doesn't qualify.

Yeah. I’m trying to understand this Live Nation stuff too.

I would love for my Orlando show to be vaccinated or negative covid test (don’t love this second part as much).

Every venue in Ohio that I have shows to in the next seven months has adopted the vaccine/negative test policy, including the MO show in Columbus. I don't think anyone points to the band and says 'this is THEM demanding the vaccine/negative test' but rather most people view it as the venues/larger ticketing companies requiring them to do it. So, really, no band should lose fans over this and if you lose a bunch of anti-vaxxers/covid-is-a-hoax fans, so be it.

And actually, most venues in the Cle/Columbus area are proof of vaccination only following Oct. 1

That's good. It's definitely not how fans have responded to other bands I've seen that have announced vax only shows in recent days. Thinking of mewithoutYou & my morning jacket specifically but there are others

I think we're both right. my hypothesis is that if someone had access to a "MO listeners map" via Spotify or something, it'd show a higher number of fans in the southeast U.S. than any other region. could totally be wrong, but that's my thought.

listening doesn't always translate to attending a show though, so you could explain the similarities in venue size across the globe knowing that. i think there's something to the religious-adjacent themes in their songs that support my original thought. if they leaned to heavily into messaging around vax only shows, it'd turn off a lot more fans than other groups I follow because I'm presuming they have more conservative fans than the average group I follow. again, this is complete conjecture.

I mean, Jason Isbell is getting a fair amount of backlash from ‘fans’ over his personal vax mandate policy for anyone attending.

If anyone is set to lose fans, I’d assume it’d be in that space of music.

right, and of the "emo" bands I follow, they're closer to that genre than any other.

i think they came up in a scene and associated with other bands that have generally center-left to left leaning fanbases which has a bigger impact than them being from the south because as someone pointed out atlanta is not like the rest of the south. much like how im from st louis and it is not like the rest of the midwest. hundreds of thousands of liberals live in these places, just because the states lean red doesnt mean large numbers of blue voters dont exist in these areas.

yea, i get that. I'm talking about fans, not voters.

its whatever. i am getting the key point which is that you disagree.

The last thing they want to do is get into any ‘political’ debates with people.

Especially after the whole Neighborhood fiasco that people tried to turn it into something it absolutely wasn’t. The first and probably last ‘political’ song.

so they’re gonna rely on the venues, if they go out.

there's nothing wrong with going political and there's nothing wrong with choosing not to say something, if you make your stances clear outside of your own songs

How will that be affected by Desantis saying businesses can’t require vaccinations in Florida?

  18. RyanPm40

    The Torment of Existence Supporter

I looked it up and Livenation says the requirement is only in states where it's legal to implement the restrictions

im just saying if they themselves imposed vaccine restrictions the majority of their fans would be fine and a small vocal minority might say something. their sales woudnt suffer and for a lot of bands the need to tour and make money is higher than ever right now.

For sure. Just hoping this paves the way for businesses to be able to be a bit more strict. Allowing concerts to go on as planned.

yup. all of the people i follow who’ve been posting about it not being FDA approved are just posting horror stories from other vaccines that were approved :upside:
