I’ve already prepared myself for these shows not happening.

Breaks my heart for the bands.

I know this is probably a topic for another thread, but I just don't understand the need for cancelling or shutting down shows again. In shows where you can't require vaccinations like in Red states who have banned it, just have them sign disclosures and don't have any meet and greets. 99% of anyone with serious effects is not vaccinated and that is on them. We've done our time. Quarantined. Got Vaccinated. We shouldn't coddle the 35% of Trump voters who refuse to get vaccinated.

(I'm not including those who are medically unable)

yeah if youre vaccinated and shows are requiring vaccinations i see no reason to shut them down.

  10. I think it’s more in line with a lot of people who are vaccinated are getting sick again with whatever this ‘delta’ wave is. And there’s still a metric fuck ton who never bothered to get it at all.

I’m in an area with a very good vaccine rate according to our state and our hospital numbers are on par with what they were back in January.

Most bands aren’t going to risk it.

the people who are vaccinated and getting sick arent getting hospitalized and are having extremely mild symptoms if any.

  12. There’s quite a few patients hospitalized at my wives work that are fully vaccinated that are extremely sick.

Obviously not the case for everyone but there’s certainly some people getting it pretty bad.

the statistics of hospitalizations for fully vaccinated people aren't cause for concern with regards to holding events, imo. the problem is the amount of unvaccinated people still in society.

I totally understand that it happens, I just think that from the data it's a pretty small percentage of people (In VA for example, hospitalization rate among the fully vaccinated was 0.0032%) and I personally would be fine signing a disclosure that I accept any risk. I understand that others would feel differently.

  15. I’d definitely sign something too at this point.

But I’ll also understand that some bands are gonna just can their plans unfortunately

I honestly do not know but can't the band say "vax required to enter our show" or is that beyond their control and its all on venue?

  17. Isn’t there quite a few artists saying they want full vaccination proof for fans to enter?

or did I read those articles wrong

They can do what Jason Isbell is doing and either the venue is vax only or he is not playing at that venue and cancelling the show/moving to a new venue that is vax only.

In my home state of Florida, the governor has signed a law saying that any business can't require proof of vaccination.

I have tickets to Orlando and The Stuffing and really hope I don't have to fly out to some North East state to see them, given I already sold my NYC tickets.

it's not really even about vaccinated people getting symptoms if they get a breakthrough case, it's more about them infecting other more vulnerable people imo.

also, not to be overly cynical, but i’d imagine part of the calculus is being honest about how much of the artists’ crowd potentially isn’t vaccinated that bought tickets and weighing whether or not the band/venue would still be able to make money if they aren’t coming out

I will continue to trust the science and when it shows that the vaccine is no longer effective from stopping severe disease, I will adjust accordingly. I feel like there’s been an underlying narrative during this whole Delta surge that neglects to bring forward how many people are getting critically ill (that have been vaccinated obviously). It almost feels like were moving towards a mindset that no one can ever get sick again, from anything. Idk, I played my part, got vaccinated, and it feels like the standards keep getting raised on what we have to do and it’s severely frustrating.

They've sold out quite a few. Fairly certain ticket buyers couldn't get their money back for a reason of "I'm unvaccinated and decided I didn't want to risk it anymore". Probably comes down to if they see ticket sales just completely stop between now and show dates.

Bingo. It's about controlling the spread to others. Vaccinated people are just as contagious initially (though it may not last as long as the unvaccinated).

We still need to worry about children who can't get vaxxed as well as immunocompromised people.

A good series of tweets on the matter:

The band all have young children, and Tim is about to have another child in a few months.

The band will probably be one of the more cautious.

If the ‘red states’ start getting too ~hot~ and the ‘blue states’ start limiting capacities or just completely cancel shows again, the entire tour will be postponed. Again.
