After not connecting with much of ABMTTS, this album clicked the moment I heard Bed Head though the album

 

Useless memory post alert.

12 years ago today, I ditched all the high school graduation parties to go see Manchester Orchestra three hours away on the headlining METN Tour (alone, and in a venue the size of a two car garage with a blown out PA), but instead was treated to 45 minutes of MO and the first headline show for fun., because ~Nate’s from Arizona~.

I was so pissed, and I LOVED The Format, and was genuinely really hyped on fun. during that lead up to the record, but I walked out after a few songs in ~protest~, because I was a child.

I saw the band behind the venue and talked to them for awhile. But at that point it was a 17 year old me just awkwardly asking questions about b-sides that were around and really geeking out about how gnarly Pride was, while they chain smoked and tried to figure out Blackberry messenger. Lol

I drove home at two in the morning, almost falling asleep driving into total darkness in the middle of the desert with just my 97 Jetta’s nearly dead headlights to save me. Collapsed in my bed as the sun came up. Woke up at noon, and did it all again that night. Only closer.

 

Anxiously awaiting those East Coast dates.

So I'm very out of the loop. What exactly is Sinful Math? Is it a reimagining of Simple Math like Hope is for Cope?

I actually haven't heard any of the demos (and a bunch do exist on the Patreon) but you're in the ballpark from what I've been told.

 

It's the grungier, punkier B-sides that didn't make it on to Simple Math. Some of them are rough demos, and some of them are mostly produced. There will be a full collection put into a vinyl. I believe they've all been released digitally now.
