I’ve rarely if ever seen them discussed here. Pretty sure I heard all of Downward Spiral at least once a few years ago but I don’t remember any song titles.

 

Okay I looked up their top 5 on Spotify and was like “oh”

anyone wanna talk about the Canadian band Moist?

 

Everyone remember in 2005 when there were 3 bands on the alternative rock stations/charts with songs about being cold

1) Breaking Benjamin - So Cold, 2004
2) Crossfade - Cold, 2004
3) Evans Blue - Cold (But I’m Still Here), 2005

And there was a band called Cold

 

Cold by Crossfade fucking slays.

My hottest of hot takes is that Sometime Around Midnight by The Airborne Toxic Event is just Mr. Brightside but for sad indie kids and also better.

I play the riff from So Cold pretty much every time I pick up a guitar

 

I don’t think there has been a year since 2004-2005 that has reached the same levels of greatness on alternative rocks stations

I’ll put it up to bat against a lot of the 90s as well in terms of bangers

Still fkin love Breaking Benjamin even tho they're ass rock and that Crossfade album does indeed slay

So cold was the very first song I ever purchased on iTunes

 

Well 2004-2005 had a lot more going on than just those absolute legends mentioned

 

Everyone go look on whatever streaming app you got and search rock/alt rock 2004 and again for 2005, then tell me I’m wrong

 

anyway id have to rank telepath as a top 5 song I’ve ever heard in my life at this point

 

it's honestly very much 1a/1b for "modern" bands for me

 

why should I be nice to you when you're trying to hurt me so bad

 

no one has brought up the 1975 yet

 

NIN have a handful of songs better than any oasis song but definitely maybe and WTSMG are both better than any single NIN album, yes including the fragile and the downward spiral which are two top 50 albums for me

trent is obviously more talented than both the gallaghers combined. the closest thing to a modern "genius" in music we have.
