i've said this on this site before but "the writer doesn't choose the score" isn't strictly true, they're just not the only person who has influence over the score

 

anyway still playing this amazing album on the daily

 

i should've pitched this record to the fork but i have no idea what i would write about it. "album too beautiful" over and over again until i hit 1000 words

 

yeah im sure they read every email pitch they get

my favorite part of the record right now is the delayed drum fill in the second chorus of "bed head".... feels so right

I didn’t know people turned to publications still for reviews. I am guessing as music magazines reduced staff due to funding constraints, you had less writers reviewing more records and sometimes out of their comfort zones of music.

I generally just look at album announcements and fan feedback for bands. To many reviewers trying too hard to be creative and falling flat or trying to have an impact on a bands date (positive or negative).

That said, I do glance at bands to check out or end of year lists.

 

So what was special about the deluxe? The glow?

The Glow was unique but I'd wager it has something to do with the hidden words referencing tracks for a B-side or evermore album to TMMOG.
