Damn this is good and very well thought out. Thanks for the insight! I definitely see where you’re coming from and I’m excited to get my physical copy in the mail so I can do a listen along with the lyrics.

Any timestamps for when they're on? It's a 2.5 hour podcast!

I'm listening through now, so I'll pick them out when I get to them. :-)

They open the show talking about the record. That's all I've heard of them so far.

I think this album is about a post office in a small Podunk town in the state of Illinois that wrestles with the thought of existing vs. nonexisting as well as the moral aptitude to follow through on their only job of delivering packages.

And then the post office cried “wolf! wolf!” But there was no wolf!

Whoever called the back half of this "Grey's Anatomy-core" was spot on. My wife loves that shit and really enjoyed this from Telepath to the Internet.

It's obviously better than that genre name implies, but it's also a pretty apt description. haha.

I don’t think this is very good to be honest. Nothing stood out on first listen

Is there any link to the "The Wolf" on ABMTTS at all? Legit asking as I don't remember the intricate details of the concept of that record.

Yeah, I described it as ABC/NBC show and someone specified Grey Anatomy.

I don’t think either of us meant it in a negative way. It’s got a mainstream emotionally accessible, and with the line about “hospital” I figured one of those network doctor shows like Grey’s, New Amsterdam, or whatever else there is. The guys do a good job getting their music out there and this would fit somewhere on a TV show in the last 8 minutes of an episode where they show all the emotional face closeups and deep thought moments.

Wasn't 'What a Pity?' actually on Grey's Anatomy once?

Not sure but that RAGC song would work. I thought Hot One was on like a Gossip Girl or something teen like that.

We reach for the longest shadow

I said this in my track by track, but the bloop/bleeps in Angel of Death remind me a lot of The Wolf.

  17. You are spot on. From the press release:

Masks explores the loose story of a man’s encounter with the angel of death as he’s shown various scenes from his life in a snapshot-style assemblage. Some moments he witnesses are good, some are bad, some difficult, some commendable—in other words, they depict an entirely normal life. Initially based on a fictitious character, Masks began to process real-time emotions as McDowell’s father entered the toughest part of his fight with cancer, eventually losing the battle in 2019. “It started off really abstract, but as Robert’s dad’s fight with cancer got harder and harder those last couple years, I started making parallels in my mind to what I was actually writing about,” Hull explains. “It became an examination of my own faith. While Robert’s dad’s story certainly influenced this album, it’s equally about me coming to grips with the realness of adulthood and that there’s an expiration date to all of this—and how you’re going to live your life knowing that.”

That was me lmao. My girlfriend got me into Grey's and honestly they have some absolutely fire music on that show. RAGC was even on it. So was Frightened Rabbit, The National, Arcade Fire, among others.

  22. Usps tracking said mine was coming today but unless they folded it up and stuffed it in the mailbox I think that was incorrect.

I preordered this record from Seasick Records and it arrived today! I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that the pink smoke LP was actually "pink shimmer" and y'all, it's a GORGEOUS variant!
