I think my favorite verse from the album so far may be

"In the light, you arrive, as the curtain closes
Intertwined and attached to his soul
There were not any sermons to speak
    There was goodbye and hello"

As someone who's struggled with my own faith and if I even believe or not, this verse perfectly encompasses the comfort I feel when I think about an afterlife.

I definitely like it more than I did at first. Still not a fan of the acoustic tracks but I like Annie and Dinosaur a lot more now. I think Telepath and The Internet and Let It Storm are the only ones I don’t care for.

Have another package coming from Melrose, IL that just showed up in Informed Delivery, and it’s already in Orlando (I’m in SWFL).

    Strange things are afoot.

It's an employee from the Fox Valley, Illinois Post Office on his way to your house to personally kick you in the groin.

I listened to this all weekend, but haven't been in here, too much to catch up on so sorry if it's said, but the ending of Obstacle is big time Cope vibes, sorry to y'all that don't like that one.

Has anyone been able to figure out how The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf fits in with the theme of the album?

When I die, I'm going to be sent to the Fox Valley, Illinois Post Office for the rest of eternity, aren't I?

I think the 1-2 of Obstacle and Way Back is my favorite part of the album. Just pure auditory bliss.

    The production is 10/10

Overall it's not as immediate to me as Black Mile, but I need to spend some more time with this.

Here's where I'm at after DEVOURING this album over the course of the past 72 hours (not on vinyl, of course):

Neither this, or Black Mile, are my favorite MO albums. But, I think they are both quite easily the best two albums they've made.

I also think I like this more than Black Mile. Not sure there are as many highs as Black Mile, but there aren't any lows, either.

Agreed. I love Catherine Marks production but MMOG seems less cluttered than BMTTS. The layering is absolutely perfect this time around.

I was born in a swamp, born with no clothes on

Complete theory but I feel like it could be how as a kid you are taught to have this faith in God (the wolf) and fear him & his judgment, and you spread this knowledge you've learned of this invisible higher power. Then as you grow older and you don't hear him or see him so you start to call BS on God & religion. But then you die and are now face to face with this God & his judgment, but by that time it's too late, you had already given up on your faith because for so long, you saw no proof of God's (the wolf's) existence.

This would play into the theme of the album which i believe is about how people deal with the thought of death and what comes after. How the person dying reflects on the life they lived and if they did enough good & whether there's even an afterlife to go to. And also from the perspective of a child or lover who has to deal with this grief of a loved one passing on and whether they are gone forever or if they will actually reunite with them in the afterlife. Or are we all just completely alone when we die.

Still decipering the album myself but these are the thoughts I've gathered.

I've found instances throughout the album that calls back to their entire discography. I would love to find all the specific callbacks of lyrics and tunes from previous works. They have definitely pulled pieces & slight nods from each album for MMOG.

I pre-ordered Simple Math from Newbury Comics with the autographed book too lol. I literally got in my car and just drove around nowhere so I could listen to it when it came in. Still waiting for my MMOG CD.
