I'm glad that MO's worst album is Cope, which is an absolute fucking jam!

I'm not going to argue best or worst because they all mean something different to me, but I'd say for me that Virgin is the hardest one for me to listen to. I say that with full respect as Manchester Orchestra immediately became one of my favorite bands the moment I found that album in 2006.

This was the album I got into them with and the one I've spent the most time with, so I may be biased. But I think it's easily their best, followed by METN

I was just making a comment based on it being called their worst, because I don't think they've really made a bad album or song!

LAVLAC is definitely hard to listen through normally compared to others. Colly Strings is my favorite song. Where have you been and I can barely breathe are jams. But those emo-based slow songs intermittently placed in between make it less enjoyable as a whole. Whereas despite Cope's production issues. You can spin that baby front to back and ride that wave.

Same thing with black mile, although it's a bit more of an EXPERIENCE. (I still hold that I wish they replaced The Parts with I Know How to Speak)

    Same.

I also need to give ABMTTS another shot, because it never clicked with me when it came out.

Same here. The songs I like I like a lot but I’m not super drawn to the whole thing. Idk why, feels like it should be super my thing

There are some great songs on it (Every Stone and Girl Harbor being standouts), but it does seem like is lacks something on the whole.

My two favorite releases from that album cycle, though, are a deluxe edition bonus track (After the Scripture) and the B-side to The Ocean (Opposite Sides - not the one that accompanied that awful looking alien/robot movie).

I adore COPE front to back. I really do. I honestly don’t even mind the production stuff like many do. I think it really complimented the sound and environment they were shooting for.

That said, I 100% understand why people don’t like it and have problems with it.

I just happen to love it. HOPE too.

    Those songs kill live too.

Cope remains my favorite MO record, and is one of my favorite albums ever. I think it’s basically perfect, and fits literally any mood I’m in. It’s just a flawless loud rock album.

Which isn’t to say I don’t love all the other albums, because I do. And Black Mile is my second favorite. But I can’t say enough good things about Cope.

Part of me wants to create a hybrid COPE/HOPE album that combines my favorite versions from the two.

I didn't think Cope was so well-liked here. Probably my least favorite overall, tbh. They're all good, though.
