It's neck and neck for me right now. I'm also a pretty big Circa Survive fan, and I love what I've heard from The Amulet. So we shall see.

 

its like I said both albums are at such a level its impossible to tell.

 

Didn't come into the album cycle as anything more than a casual listener of either MO or Brand New, but I think this album is significantly better than SF.

I'm very impressed by this album.

 

I can't pick one right now,they are both stellar... My year end list may have a tie at number one. @Kevin360 you too?

 

I don't think I'll be able to pick one, but if I do, Brand New takes it by default because they're my favorite band.

 

I like the Brand New record considerably more, then again, I've said already in here that this album hasn't had the impact on me it has on most others.

 

Lots of interesting sonic parallels between the two imo

 

This may sound awfully pessimistic, but I think that between A Black Mile To The Surface and Science Fiction this will go down as one of last/most prominent years for Indie Rock. These albums are absolutely phenomenal.

 

Not really pessimistic but how could next year top this one? Only if thrice and hotelier release killer records next year

I still haven't really gotten into this one much. To be fair, I've been really distracted every time I've listen to it, so that hasn't helped much.

 

HOT take I think I like Head North more than this and BN what's wrong with me?

 

I love the Head North record.
But both of these are heads above it for me.

I love the way Andy crams words into some of these verses. To get melody with some of those stanzas is really really impressive.

 

i didn't listen to this for a week. came back and i'm super appreciative. i'm loving this album way more than i ever anticipated... at the beginning of the year if you told me MO and BN were both comin full steam for us i would have died. what a year.

I like the back half more too bit it's super consistent so the first half is great as well. Currently my favs are The Maze, The Gold, The Grocery.

Man this album makes for an incredible back to back play with Science Fiction. Andy and Jesse are legends in their own right.
